AngelSense (angelsense.com) has 296 customer reviews on Folks Told, with an average rating of 4.3 out of 5.
My son ran off at disneyland, the angelsense device gives you such a large area that your child could be, I had been searching for over an hour for him with no luck. I thought one of the features was being able to listen in or talk to him thru the device, but neither option was available and I could not get a hold of angel sense customer service- you can apparently only contact them via email. Once my son did start walking around, the device read 'it transit' I saw he was moving to another area outside of disney park, so I followed to where he was heading and finally found him. I suppose without the GPS I wouldn't have found him & could have been worst, but I think the device still has a long ways to go to improve and narrow in on where exactly the child is, and there should be better/faster customer service in my opinion. If my son hadn't moved 'in transit' and stayed where he was, it could have been all day and night looking for him in that large search area grid...

Need better devices
The service is pretty good, but the ancient device that comes with it needs to go. The battery life is terrible, its usability is clunky, at best, and it is way too big. In this day and age with tiny GPS units, there has to be a better way...

Needs some work but ok.
To be fair, it works 2 thirds of the time which makes that other third a little unnerving. Bad weather disrupts the signals as well as a lot of erratic signaling. Some slow notifications and no communication can make you quite nervous. It would be okay if it was spread out occasionally, but unfortunately it is quite frequent. Looking for upgrades soon that helps with it but haven't gotten notified of any since started months ago. G-Mom.

Hi,
My name is Doron, co-founder of AngelSense.
We are now beta testing a Verizon device with better cellular coverage. This will surely address your issue.
Please email me directly at [email protected] and I will make sure you are added to our beta and you will get your device shortly.

Great Idea but needs some work
I have a child with autism who likes to go on "adventures" I am grateful that AngelSense has a product to help me keep track of him. I would recommend this product, however here are the two problems I have with it.
1. When setting a location that is listed regularly you can only use a circle which gives off a lot of false alerts because most buildings a square or rectangle. Your options are to either make the radius too small so it fits in the building or make it too large so that if he escapes it won't alert until he is really far away.
2. My other issue is the website. It is really tough to navigate if you already have a product and want to order a replacement due to damage.
If these could be fixed it would be a 5 star company.

Dear Susanna,
Thank you so much for your feedback.
Your comments are very helpful for our continuous enhancement of the service.
We have recently enhanced our guardian app and included accessories and device replacement purchase options (see the Accessories option in the main menu). This should address your second point.
The first point you have made is extremely important. It relates to the biggest challenge with GPS.
GPS technology requires line of sight to satellites and produces many false alerts indoors.
Standard GPS devices have several false alerts a day.
AngelSense analytics are able to successfully filter out over 99% of these false alerts but you may still occasionally get a false alert. In such cases we provide the parent tools to identify the alert is false.
The issue is actually not related to the circular shape of the location.
We will contact you directly to review your settings and help you configure your system to address the issue.
Best,

Not sure
I got Angel sense do i would feel safer in big cross situations with my son with Down Syndrome who often runs off. He wrote it a few times but frankly it's just too bulky and he hasn't worn it since. I also wish that the tracking was faster. The pouch opening is too small and the battery life only last about 6 hours which isn't good for all day outings.

Started out strong
In the beginning customer service was 5 out of 5 stars with quick email replies. During the past 2 to 3 months customer response time has been very very slow with email responses taking a week or longer to reply. You have a great product but when you are selling a product that deals with someone's personal safety the response time should be as quick as possible. I hope I'm not discouraging angel sense. It's a great product and I think you are leading the way, but the customer service needs to improve a bit.
The device itself is good. I think with upcoming technology I hope you are able to produce a smaller device with better cell and GPS strength. The app is good but I think the geofence could be improved on a bit. Right now you can only set up a circular fence. I would like to see users be able to set up a square fence or rectangular fence as 99.9% of buildings or playgrounds are either square or rectangular in shape. This could cut down on response time which with special needs people could save lives. Seconds count.

Hi Nate,
Thank you for your feedback. I head Customer Care for AngelSense and agree that we have had an overwhelming response to our great product which has delayed response to our customers. We are aware and working on improvements to response times. As a Mom to a child with special needs and user of AngelSense, it is critical that we are able to meet client expectations on response times.
I will also send your comments to our Product Team regarding the geofence, this would be a great improvement.
Please feel free to email me directly with any questions or specific examples of where you feel we could improve at [email protected]. I sincerely appreciate your feedback!

Device is wonderful but Tech help assumes you're an idiot and doesn't listen to exact problem
I've been with Angelsense for about a year and a half now. One thing that I felt safe about is the employees also have special kids. The device is wonderful!! I couldn't imagine life without the security of knowing where my kids are in the case of an incident. Dealing with support this time I felt as if my needs were met with no friction (there was some back and forth emails but it was kind and used to help determine the true problem), but the ticket needed to be escalated to tech support. That's when it got difficult. Normally, when you try to listen in and the device in in an area with limited cellular service you will get a message that says the voice mail box has not been setup. I know this because, again, I've had this for about a year and a half. Upon receiving a replacement device when I tested the listen in feature I got a message that said "The number you dialed is not reachable" and then it had an official message number like "message number 80-10" I can not remember the message number exactly right now. Well, once it was directed to tech support I received an email back stating that it is normal to get the voicemail box has not been setup when cellular service is low.... Okay, I know that. Did you not read what my problem actually was? Did you just assume I was an idiot? That is not the message I was getting. I told them again the message I WAS getting. They said okay please try it now. Back and forth until I asked them had they actually dialed the number? Could you please dial the number. I am not an idiot, I know what I hear when I dial. A 5 year old could repeat it. It has NOTHING TO DO WITH VOICEMAIL! Finally, after that email I hear nothing else, but miraculously overnight the listen in function is now working! Nothing more from tech support. Leaving me to feel as if it never really happened, they never did a thing to fix it, because they could never have any troubles starting up a new device (it's normal in the tech world to have new devices not work. I know because I am a network and systems admin for the last 17 years!) It's also okay to address a real problem, admit there was one so you don't leave the customer feeling terrible. I worked my way up to Network admin. I was on help desk 1, then 2, then 3 before going to Systems admin. Never, did I make the end user feel stupid to save face on our end. Even if it was PEBCAK or user error I (and all my colleagues) gently explained how to make it better without leaving the end user frustrated and/or feeling like the issue never existed. This is the second time I have walked away from tech support feeling like this. It's okay to say "oh my, that's weird. Never seen that before. Let's see what we can do to fix it". It makes you more human, more kind, more understanding! I love both of our Angels. I couldn't live without them. I just pray they don't break. My kids are special needs too. I don't need added frustration to something I feel as if I couldn't live without. You didn't fully read what the problem actually was. Tech support please understand that being without an angel on your special kid is like taking your cell phone and home phone away and sending your "runner" kid to a brand new school on a strange bus for the entire day. It's already frustrating and scary please try to be more understanding.

Hi Christy,
Thank you for your feedback and I hear you. I run Customer Care for AngelSense and we have had some growing pains recently due to the overwhelming response to our product. We are training new Agents, especially on our Technical Team to handle more complex cases. I understand your frustration and will ensure that our training program addresses your concerns. All of our Agents, including myself, are parents of children with special needs and expert users of AngelSense so we absolutely feel your pain when there is an issue. We do take this seriously as we have been in your shoes. Please accept my apologies and that I commit to improving our service.

Good but has problems
First of all, the e-mail I received to review Angel Sense was addressed to "Danny Campbell" and I don't even know who that is.
Second, I'm already on my 3rd device because the battery charging port stopped working after a few months on the 1st and the 2nd went into the washing machine with my son's pants and stopped working.
#1) This device needs to be waterproof or in a waterproof sleeve. Little kids are drawn to water and their clothes are frequently laundered.
#2) The magnet attachment is genius, so the kids can't take it off. However, it's sometimes difficult to detach the 2 magnet pieces from each other and I'm always misplacing the magnet used to open them up. Once we lost the unlocking magnet and my son couldn't use the device for 2 weeks until the new piece was shipped to us because it was attached to dirty pants. There has to be a better way.
#3) All 3 times I ordered new parts in the past 4 months (new device twice and new unlocking magnet once) it has taken more than a week to get here. Besides for the fact I'm paying for a service I can't access, if I'm using this service in the first place he needs it IMMEDIATLY for his safety!! This type of company should have a standard practice of shipping everything next day or latest 2 day delivery. I inquired about that on the phone and was told it was $60-80+ In the end we did standard shipping because that's what we could afford and the device was not even shipped out for several days. Once it shipped it took 2 days to arrive. Which leads me to my last point
#4) This device is expensive!! Not just the device, replacement device, replacement magnets, etc but the monthly service. I don't really have a choice because my son runs away so much but it would be nice if a necessity such as this, created by special needs parents, was more affordable for parents who many be paying hundreds or thousands of dollars for doctors, therapies, respite, etc My estimated cost just for the first 12 months of use are well over $500.
Overall, great product but needs some improvement and is expensive.

Hi Rivka,
Thank you so much for providing feedback. The voice of the customer is extremely important to us. The great news is that many of the items that you have commented on in your post, we are currently working on! We are in test with a waterproof case and are reviewing our fasteners to see what improvements that we can make without impacting the strength of the fastener hold. We have recently made improvements to our shipping timeframes and will soon offer standard rates for 2Day and Overnight shipping. I agree that time is of the essence and getting the device/accessories as quickly as possible is key. We will continue to review and improve our processes to get the shipping timeframes down.
I apologize that there was a mixup regarding your name on one of the emails that you were sent. I will review your account to see what happened. Additionally, I will pass on your feedback regarding cost to our Product Team.
Thank you again for your feedback and being part of the AngelSense Community!
