After moving into a Spectrum phone service area I accepted their offer of 1 year free unlimited data with a phone purchase. Everything worked as expected
until I tried to move to a cheaper service at year's end. Everyone but Spectrum said my phone was locked, except Motorola. I got a three-party call with Moto and Spectrum's Tech Dept. Thanks to Moto for exposing Spectrum's scam and walking me thru the unlock steps. I must have asked Spectrum a dozen times if the phone was truly unlocked and every call led to some kind of incentive to stay with Spectrum. No way.

Please don’t sign up for Spectrum…
Please don’t sign up for Spectrum Business mobile or internet.
I canceled my account about five months ago, but three months later I received a bill anyway. When I called, I was told my account was never fully canceled—they only put it on a three-month suspension. I explained that I had canceled, but they didn’t seem to care and just wanted payment.
I canceled again, and today I received another bill for $5. I called again and was told they attempted to pull payment automatically from my account, if did not go through so even though I had already paid. They still charged an additional fee.
My advice: when you cancel, make sure you write down the name of the person you spoke with and the date/time of the call. Otherwise, they may keep charging you.

I had the misfortune of calling Charter…
I had the misfortune of calling Charter inquiring about becoming a new customer. They have been in the process of running fiber down our road and subsequent salespersons have been carpeting the neighborhood with flyers for service.
One such flyer caught my attention with an offer for 1Gbps service for $40 a month for 3 years. I even took a picture of it because I felt that was a phenomenal deal. I spoke with Sean/Shawn (he did not spell his name for me) from South Carolina.
I will preface the rest of this letter with a statement that I also work in a contact center so I'm aware of the various sales tactics employed to upsell customers that call into them. I knew exactly what I wanted and I informed Sean, I didn't want anything else other than internet service, period. To which Sean informed me that he had no such deal to offer. Instead, Sean wanted to walk me through a list of questions to elicit upsell charges of which I wanted none of.
At this point I was reminded of the adage "if it is too good to be true, it probably isn't..." For several minutes I go back and forth with Sean about the flyer that I have a picture of that states this offer to which Sean says does not exist. (I should also clarify. I am driving at this point so I cannot look up the picture.)
Sean offers me an email address to send the offer to him directly to see if there's anything they can do to match the offer. It is at this point that Sean states the offer is probably a bundle deal. Meaning I can't get just the $40 a month service without adding on additional services I do not want. At this point I'm at a red light and I look up the picture I had taken of said offer and sure enough in very small print with an asterisk next to the offer lies the telling qualifying print "must purchase a bundle pack to receive the offer."
At this point I am mad at myself for not knowing better and very frustrated with Charter's lack of transparency and ease of effort for their consumers. My frustration is not with Sean, yet. At this point I have been on the phone for nearly 20 mins and Sean is following his script trying to get me back on track for a sale. I know this because I also work in a call center to which I tell Sean the very same thing.
Here's where things turn. I'm going to be generous to Sean here and I really shouldn't be. I'm going to assume that. Sean heard that I work at his call center, not a call center. Sean then tells me, a customer that is calling you looking to be a new customer, "look, if you work in the same call center as I do, then I don't understand why are you being so difficult with me? You're being a little difficult, um, because if you understand, like, it's really here. We're here really to save money."
Wow
I informed Sean that I don't work at your call center. I work at a call center. Presumably Sean realizes he screwed up and gets very quiet and I request a supervisor after asking if all of their calls are recorded to which he responded with yes they are.
Several minutes pass and Xavier jumps on the line and makes the obligatory apologies for the bad service and that he will coach Sean as appropriate. And proceeds to ask me what it would take to earn my business today. To which the answer is simple. I wanted the gigabit service for $40 a month for 3 years as advertised sans all the fine print. I wanted the gigabit service for $40 a month for 3 years as advertised. And to Xavier's credit or his unwillingness to try, or I'm not sure which, he tells me no one can offer that.
I have had Comcast Xfinity service for eight years and I have zero complaints about it. It is not 1Gbps fiber, but it works and it is reliable. I have zero intention of moving my business to Charter at this point along with three other family members and numerous other friends I know in this neighborhood who will share this story.

Spectrum did not break down and inform of the tiers of Phone insurance available.
I Switched from Tmobile to Spectrum mobile because It was cheaper. I wanted the same features as I had prior which they said they could match. I was not informed that the phone insurance breaks down in to different plans. Tmobile charges 18 as my insurance at spectrum was 5 dollars. At least that is what I was told. My phone cannot turn on and my insurance does not cover mechanical. Had I Known upfront , I would have gotten the insurance that covers that issue. My claim was not granted and now I am out of phone.

I had Spectrum internet in my home
I had Spectrum internet in my home. They offered a year of cell phone service as a promo. I decided to take the service. Two days before the activation my paid internet was turned off due to the mobile department canceled my appointment. I fired Spectrum and use TDS. A bit more money but the nagging promos are gone

The coverage is excellent
The coverage is excellent, it's using Verizon's towers, but costs 1/3 of Verizon's price. I also have to praise the Santa Monica Spectrum store. Fidel, Oran and the rest of the staff are welcoming, friendly, and so helpful. I went in to add a line to my plan, and they helped me find the least expensive option to do everything. I cannot recommend them enough!

No buyout for existing phone
I signed up for Spectrum mobile at the end of May, I was told that if I sent in my documents within 30 days they would pay off my current phones. I emailed them my documents within the time period as I was instructed by a Spectrum rep. They are telling me they are denying because I didn't use the link I was emailed, I instead did what customer service rep told me to do.
