Kevin Cerar rocks hospitality!
Patton Block Brew Pub, Monmouth, IL. Given that I have potentially life-threatening allergies and reactions, but haven't eaten in a restaurant for years, I took a chance with Patton Block. Kevin Cerar, general manager, walked through their dinner menu over the phone, listing the ingredients of their fresh-made foods, and grabbing packaged products from the kitchen to read the labels to me. He's answered three sets of questions, now, and he understands gluten and sulfite reactions well. Most important: he has been gracious, kind, and generous with his time, in order to help build a solid customer relationship. I'm beyond impressed. I've been inside (cute and cozy place, gorgeous dark woods, fun atmosphere). And I've combed the website (which is changing and certainly needs updating) -- still good info there. I don't go out to eat because of the sulfite and gluten issues. Now it looks like we've found a fun, quality restaurant -- and have reservations made! Will update the review after we eat there.
