The American Massage Therapy Association is the largest non-profit, professional association serving massage therapists, massage students and massage schools. We are guided by a volunteer national Board of Directors who sets the course for the association. As a member-driven organization, we are constantly in conversation with our members through surveys, phone calls, emails and social media to understand the diverse needs of all of our members and their hopes for the profession. We advocate for the issues important to massage therapists across the country at the federal, state and local levels of government. We promote the health benefits of massage to the public, the health care community and other important groups. AMTA provides its members with the strongest benefits in the massage therapy profession and has been serving our community for over 75 years.

AMTA has always been a positive experience. In my 15 years as a member I have always had someone at my back. I have had excellent success with getting the CE's or any other classes or information that I have wanted. AMTA is an organization with heart and is for the members and run by members

the only non-profit, massage-therapy-professional association with heart, my experience with AMTA over the past 17 years has been nothing short of Amazing. i am particularly active with my local chapter in organizing events for its chapter members and the massage therapy community in NV and participating in local and statewide initiatives at affecting my profession through government relations efforts. my exposure to and affect on processes that would otherwise remain elusive, shadowed, and frustrating through regular communication with regulatory and legislative leaders over the years has changed my entire experience in this field, yielding a more-informed and -effective way for me to Enjoy my passion for massage therapy. AMTA facilitates my efforts at enlightenment - professional, organized, and they have a plan: i anticipate sticking around and supporting the national and especially the state chapter for 17 More years!

This is such an amazing and necessary membership for all massage therapist. The benefits evolve with your career. They start with helping you pass your state boards with prep for the exam and study guides. They transition you into a graduate and guide you through more education and required CEU's. Once you are a year post school, you move into a Professional setting in your membership. They offer discounts on great education, and other things you need to run you business. As well, they back you when you need it most and help you make changes for the better in your community.

I have really enjoyed being a part of AMTA. I don't get involved as I should, mostly due to cost. But I appreciate knowing they have my back. I would like to ditto Brown's message of bringing conventions to the Western side of the states.

The cost is great, particularly with the included liability indurance. My problem is with the so-called “benefits” on the website. Many of which are not any kind of a special discount or are not fairly offered to ALL AMTA members. For instance, if you already have a Square account you don’t qualify for a discount through AMTA. This is completely unfair. Additionally, companies like Quickbooks offer no special discount to AMTA members that can’t be obtained by regular access to their website. They are basically being given free advertising through AMTA, but not offering members anything special for being allowed on the website. AMTA needs to be more prudent in screening what is called a benefit, and making sure these partners are treating ALL of us special and to a true discount.

I have been with AMTA for most of my 25 year career. I became a volunteer for my state chapter 9 years ago and feel even more connected than I ever have. AMTA has a mission, goals, and strategic plan to better our industry. Holding schools, continuing education, research, and legislative endeavors across the country to high standards makes AMTA the number one choice for the massage therapist, consumer and medical community.

I was encouraged to join AMTA while still a student...and here I am, 18+ years later. I've always benefitted from my membership, with online CE, a free website, deep discounts through Office Depot. I've attended conventions both at national and state levels and always learn way more than I've paid for. Most importantly, AMTA's commitment to evolving our profession, integrating with healthcare, educators, research, national and state governments lends professionalism and credibility to our work.
