I loved that I got connected with a great therapist. I hated that I could not communicate with my therapist if I did not sign up for a minimum of one month of services. That is a hardship on me. One or two weeks would be enough and less output of money.

BetterHelp is and isn't the best site online for finding therapy. The good: The therapists by and large are extremely talented and well matched. Initially I struggled to get UK based practitioners over a year ago. This has improved and it's helpful because varying timezones make it hard to keep appointments. They have vastly improved the amount of therapy options available and price planning. The bad: The same as it has always been. Betterhelp's main system is riddled with issues, especially on it's app. It resets. It loses connectivity. If you use your phone to have a video call expect to see half of your therapist. I think many of these things are android specific issues however there isn't a cheaper price plan based on what phone carrier you use so that shouldn't be an excuse. Sadly my last appointment lost connection four times. This isn't the first time this has happened. In brief Betterhelp has overcome a lot of the issues it once had. I have heard the horror stories but have two years of intermittent experience to know, it's doing what it can to fix those. If the site and most importantly the app could do some proper work. It would rival most of the private care that is suggested directly by the DCIM5.

I purchased 4 weeks gift of BetterHelp for my son. The therapist assigned to my son is only available the exact same hours that he works. His therapist is only those days and times as well. For this obvious reason, this is not a good fit. To top off, she is going to be away on vacation for 13 of the 28 days paid for. Rendering 48% of what I paid for un-usable by my son. Additionally, when he signs into his account, it bumps him out repeatedly and offers no time available when he is not working (see above scheduling conflict). At this point, we don’t want to work with this company any longer and they have offered to refund me and cancel the membership. I appreciate their taking responsibility for this unfortunate turn of events and making it right for all parties involved.

BetterHelp was my first experience with any kind of therapy. The cons: I didn’t care much for the therapist that was assigned to me, but was glad I got to choose a different therapist. Sessions are only 40 minutes, which SUCKS because you’re just getting into things at 40 minutes! At the very least it should be 60 minutes. So for the expensive, out of pocket price (not covered under any insurance) not sure it’s worth it. The pros: I love the therapist I have now. She’s always a message away and knowledgable. The group sessions are also good, although I wish there more available in the evenings for people who work all day. The group sessions let you know you’re not alone in your struggles. The adage is true, misery does love company.

I’ve just had my first session with the therapist that was assigned to me. I went into with a lot sceoticism but I have to say I really liked them. However for me the app needs big improvements. There is a lot of lagging and it is very slow. I can compare it to the applications that I used to install when the first iPhone came out.

Customer Service Matters. Especially for those seeking help with therapy. Better Help has an automated system that does not let the client speak to a real human to work out billing questions and when you email their Contact page, it is an absolutely ridiculous and frustrating process that NO MANAGER oversees to ensure that if something isn't working that the issue is resolved. The therapy is great. It's appreciated and when the right therapist connection works, it's a tremendous value, so it's an absolute shame to have such a terrible support system for billing questions. I will add that the answering service, a really nice person by the name of Vilma, was wonderful and said she tagged my message so someone would respond. She was appreciated.

Therapist I got assigned wanted to live video sessions and I don't want to share information about myself over a live video so she told me to find another therapist. I was then shown a list of therapists, the top results were specialists in trauma and abuse and other issues I don't have and never put in to screening process. I've reviewed every therapist they've shown to me and none of them seem to be a good fit for me so I simply want my money back as no service has been provided to me. Now, I've emailed them and they've sent me a link to the therapist directory and said to look for other therapists. I'm confused by this because it's the exact same lift as before, how can I look for a new therapist when you don't offer them to me? They happily took my money when I signed up but are giving me a song and dance trying to get back, even though I haven't actually used their service. Be wary when using them, they haven't given me a reason to think they're a reputable company in any way. I simply want my money back. Update: got my money back, still don't think their service is reliable.

The video consultations are not available via Android phone. Hopefully this issue will be addressed soon by the Better Help developers. I suggest to advise the users at the beginning of the sign up process.
