Hi Glen,
We are truly sorry to hear about your disappointment and want to provide the full context for clarity.
Our team followed standard best practices by creating a complete backup before upgrading Moodle from v3.11.18 to v4.2. When issues arose, we attempted to restore the latest backup. Unfortunately, three unexpected failures occurred during the process:
i) phpMyAdmin could not handle the full database restore.
ii) The hosting panel stalled at 99% during restoration.
iii) The hosting provider restored an older backup instead of the most recent one.
To minimize downtime, our engineers manually restored the available database and adjusted the configuration, which successfully brought the site back online. These failures stemmed from the limitations of the shared hosting environment—a risk we had previously advised against. A VPS with root access would have eliminated these obstacles.
The 5 hours you purchased were fully utilized across backup, upgrade, multiple restore attempts, escalation, and recovery work. However, as a goodwill gesture, we have credited back the entire 5 hours, reaffirming our commitment to fairness and customer satisfaction.
We remain dedicated to providing professional, transparent service and regret the frustration caused by the hosting environment’s constraints.
Regards,
