Kristin,
Hi there—first, I’m really sorry your Chiweenie had a rough night. That’s upsetting, and absolutely not the experience we want.
About the piece you found: I'd like to assure you that it was not a man-made object. Our meals use whole, human-grade cuts, and very occasionally a naturally occurring bit of firm cartilage or connective tissue can be present. While safe and edible, we understand it can be surprising. We’ll be sure to review this with our kitchen team.
For transparency, our food is produced in small batches with strict quality controls (ingredient verification, batch logs, metal detection, and visual checks) before rapid freezing. We track lot codes so we can investigate any report thoroughly—if you can DM or email your order number and the lot/best-by from the seal, we’ll document this and follow up directly.
Because our meals are made for dogs of all sizes, some small-dog parents prefer to mash or blend portions (or add a splash of warm water) so little pups can eat and digest any naturally firmer pieces more comfortably. If your pup is fat-intolerant or sensitive to specific ingredients, we can also help tailor the transition (smaller portions, slower mix-in) or suggest a recipe that better fits her sensitivities.
Please reach us at [email protected] or (856) 431-5502 (Mon–Sat, 8–5 PST). We’d love the chance to make this right and help your girl feel her best.
Warmly,
The Chi Dog Team
