Clutch is a joke. After page 2, it's literally the same companies repeated over and over in different orders. They must think people won’t scroll and notice. It’s fake variety just to look like they have more listings than they actually do.
If you're trying to find new companies, don't bother. It's clearly set up to boost certain profiles, not actually help users discover anything useful. Feels like a scam to get people to pay for top placement. Sketchy and disappointing.

Hi DL Academy, Thanks for your feedback. Clutch has over 300,000 service providers listed, and each directory clearly shows how many are included at the top of the page. Some companies do opt for ‘Featured’ placements to increase their visibility. These are always clearly marked and may appear on multiple pages, which might be what you were seeing. We do apologize for any confusion.

Reviewers are not validated so of limited value
A very bad review of my company was posted on the site, with logo and all details of my company correct. However the reviewer had never been a customer of my company. He referred to conversations with the owner as 'he', despite the fact that no men were even working at the company. The services being reviewed have never been offered by my company and we had never worked for a customer in his sector. It's clear that even basic checks were not made and anyone can simply post a review to harm the reputation of a company. The review was eventually taken down, but no explanation or compensation was offered. How can reviews be useful if they don't even carry out the checks that a site like Amazon does? Why don't they at least contact companies to check before they allow reviews to be posted? Two stars, and not one, as the team did respond quickly and took the review down after a couple of weeks.

Hi Anne, thanks for sharing your concerns. We’re sorry this happened and completely understand your frustration. Every review on Clutch goes through a manual verification process by our content team, including checks for identity, work history, and relationship to the business. Unfortunately, some inaccurate submissions still slip through, and hearing directly from service providers like you helps us catch and correct those rare cases faster.
We appreciate you flagging this one. Once we had the full context, we were able to investigate and remove the review. We’re always working to strengthen our process and stay ahead of bad actors. Your feedback helps us do that, and we’re grateful you took the time to reach out. Feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any additional questions or concerns.

Clutch Sponsorship - Low Results, Wrong Audience, and No Option to Cancel
We’re really disappointed with our experience advertising on Clutch.
In 7+ months and after spending 2600$ already for the sponsorship, only spam leads were generated, specifically 2 on Clutch platform (who could not be found on the web, did not engage and led nowhere), the rest would spam the email to provide their services. Plus, the results were much lower than expected in terms of numbers.
We were aiming to reach leads from the UAE by advertising there, and Clutch itself reassured top users based on their analytics would be from UAE, yet the UAE visitors ranked 4th only, behind countries that clearly said weren’t relevant to us and our goals. The few visitors we got didn’t match the audience we were targeting and would constantly spam our email.
We brought up our concerns a few times, but there was no real solution, they do not take accountability. They offer a higher package to reach more people, which is unprofessional since current package not only produces low results, but gets traffic from irrelevant locations and leads. The only advise they give is to make changes and updates to our profile based on their advice, which does not even help.
And what’s worse there’s no way to cancel the agreement early. Even after months of low performance, Clutch forces us to continue paying for the full 12 months. As a small agency, this type of inflexible setup feels risky and unfair. This is why they do not have trials. We’re sharing our experience so that others can be more careful before committing.

Hi SCD Company, thank you for sharing this. We’re genuinely sorry this experience has felt frustrating and unfair, especially as a small business investing limited resources and trusting us to help you grow.
Clutch sponsorships do come with a 12-month commitment, which is outlined at the start of each agreement. That said, we completely understand how discouraging it can be when results don’t match your goals. While cancellations aren’t possible during the initial term, your Account Manager is here to support you throughout your subscription, not just at the start. We want to make sure you're getting real value from the time that’s left. That includes helping with audience targeting, profile updates, and helping make sure tracking is set up so you're seeing the full picture.
Feedback like this helps us do better, and we hope this next conversation is a step toward earning back your trust and making the rest of your time with Clutch more worthwhile.

Horrible buying experience
Horrible buying experience. I bought a car, and I had 10 days to try and return it if it wasn't what I wanted. It broke down after 3 days, and they lied, saying it was fixed by a mechanic and there were no issues. Stranded an hour from home for 4 hours. I paid for AAA through them. When we called, they didn’t have our car on file, so we had to pay to have it towed and find a shop and tow that was available. Clutch did not care and couldn’t bother to help us. They left us stranded. I didn’t have a car for a week. I live in rural areas with toddlers and need a vehicle. By then, the 10 days were over, and I was out of luck. They provided the bill of sale/title in only my husband’s name and the registration in both our names. They knew the whole time, as I have written confirmation that we wanted the car in both our names. We could not register it because every dealership knows the bill of sale has to match the registration. For three weeks, I have not been able to drive the car that I am paying for but cannot use. Clutch SAYS THEY CANNOT PUT THE CAR IN BOTH NAMES; it isn’t possible because the loan is only in one name. This is an outright lie, as every vehicle we have purchased has been in both names, even though only one of us signed the loan. I have only been able to drive the car for 7 days and have had to make 3 car payments. They have not reimbursed us for all the monetary losses and the sale of a car that we cannot drive and was clearly unsafe. Clutch is not legit and does not care about its customers' time, money, or safety. Selling a car knowing someone can’t legally register it is telling owners to break the law. Go to a car dealership; at least they are accountable, and you can deal with them face-to-face. Where Clutch is also virtual, they can lie and then not deal with you again, and ignore emails and calls.

Hi Sharlene, thank you for sharing your feedback - we believe you are leaving a review on the wrong Trustpilot profile. We are a B2B ratings and reviews platform, we do not sell automobiles. Thank you!

Absolute rip-off
Absolute rip-off. I tried to cancel, and they just charged my account double. It has been almost a month of trying to cancel.

Clutch allows for fabricated and…
Clutch allows for fabricated and defamatory reviews. As others here have said, you cannot trust the reviews on Clutch as they do not enforce their Review Guidelines or Terms of Service. Instead they use the Yelp tactic of saying that all reviews are the users opinions and the terms of service for the platform suggest that the user takes full responsibility for what they post and even if it violates the review guidelines they will not remove it.
Even if a court orders the user to remove the post and finds their statements defamatory, Clutch will still leave the fake reviews up with defamation as their stated facts aren’t actually facts they are opinions… if you say so.
Both these lunatic companies make up their own definition of defamation and try to utilize their domain authority over your companies head by having most of their pages rank higher, causing more damage if their page says anything negative about you.
I would suggest anyone looking for a development company to look elsewhere where for factual reviews on the company. It can be hard since there’s so many misleading companies like Clutch. But as we all know, listing sites are all about getting paid to be listed.
They could care less about laws as long as they are paid. Listing sites are one of the easiest platforms to make and create leverage against businesses.
There are plenty of systems in the world that exist with the pure intent to abuse other people’s trust and take advantage of their users. Clutch decided they wanted to join that party.
I would stay far far away from this company and I would take their reviews with a grain of crushed salt.

Hi there Stephan, Thank you for your feedback about our review collection process. Our team in charge of content eligibility thoroughly investigated the review that was left for your company and found that it did not violate our Terms of Service. Since Clutch errs on the side of transparency and leaving reviews published, we informed you that the content would stay live. At this time, we have not received any legal notice requiring the takedown of the review. Thank you again for your feedback, please feel free to email us at [email protected] to discuss this further.
