The amount of stress that Cookie Finance has caused me cannot be overstated. I paid nearly $5,000 over the course of a year for bookkeeping and tax services for my small business, and ultimately had to find another CPA because my tax returns were never filed.
Communication was practically nonexistent throughout my time with the company. I was assigned approximately 3–4 different account managers in less than a year, which made it incredibly difficult to establish any consistency or feel confident that someone was actually overseeing my account. I frequently felt like I was the one having to chase down answers and make sure things were getting done. (Which, on the whole, they were not.)
Despite providing the requested information, my S-Corp's September 15 extended filing deadline came and went without my return being filed. I received no explanation for why this happened. With my personal tax deadline quickly approaching, I was left scrambling to find another firm that could take over and complete my filings.
As a small business owner, I hired Cookie Finance to take something complicated and stressful off my plate. Instead, I spent an enormous amount of time and energy trying to get basic communication and services I had already paid for. The lack of accountability and responsiveness was astounding.
They did issue a full refund when I requested to terminate our relationship, and I appreciate that. However, a refund doesn't give me back the time I lost or undo the stress of discovering that my taxes hadn't been filed.
I went into this relationship genuinely hopeful that Cookie Finance would be a reliable partner for my business. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. I would strongly caution other small business owners to consider my experience before trusting this company with their bookkeeping and tax filings.

As a content creator that knew NOTHING…
As a content creator that knew NOTHING about taxes and finances, having a bookkeeper and accountant like Cookie Finance has helped me DRASTICALLY with organizing my finances. I know when to file for taxes, I know what is able to be deducted. They provide me with reports that shows my income and expenses throughout the whole year, and in their Cookie Jar, they have all of the categories to organize each income and expense that comes in. Will highly recommend to all and anyone who is a creator that doesn't know anything about finances. They are also very helpful if you're ever stuck on anything, you can hop on a call with them and they will be right there to help you!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I signed up with Cookie Finance a year ago and it has been nothing short of a disaster. I have no idea what is going on with this company - for the first few months I was told my books were constantly "in the works", and was stood up for meetings when I tried to check in with the bookkeeper to figure out why things were taking so long. I think that person was fired, they refunded me and paired me with another person, who made no progress on my account and then quit. I was refunded again. By this time it's tax season and silly me, I thought that now that my books were taken care of they would certainly get my taxes right! WRONG. They filed an extension last minute, then finally informed me that my taxes had been filed and accepted by the IRS on June 3rd. A month later I decide to check in on my refund and surprise - the IRS has no record of my return. I just spent the last two weeks bugging them for someone from their tax team to explain what is going on, and today they tell me that my return has been submitted and they are just waiting for the IRS to accept it. Electronic filing acceptance happens either instantly or within a max of 3 days. So they LIED that my return was submitted June 3rd and just submitted it this morning, and only after I spent another two weeks asking about it. What would have happened if I trusted them that they had done what they said? Obviously I have fired them and am trying to get more of my money refunded.
Stay away - you have been warned!

It genuinely pains me to write this…
It genuinely pains me to write this review as I became a client of Cookie when they were just getting started and had a very small team. I was personally working with Nate, the founder and CEO of the firm. When I first started working with Cookie, the service was great and I felt like I had a partner in handling the financial side of my business.
This didn’t last long and over the years I watched the service, or lack thereof, become absolutely abysmal.
Cookie began to grow and expand rapidly (too rapidly, clearly) and my account began to go through a revolving door of new account managers and “tax professionals”. There was a long stretch of time where each email I got from Cookie was just them reassigning me to a new team. The first couple times this happened, I would meet with the team and feel assured they had a handle of my books, and then without fail they would drop off the face of the planet and ignore emails. Then I would receive a new team that had no clue about my business! This turnover led to questions and emails being unanswered, bookkeeping being COMPLETELY ignored, and mistakes being made on my tax return. I even had the IRS audit me last year and Cookie was unhelpful in that process.
I reached out to Nate Coughran, the CEO, to express my concerns. He was incredibly apologetic and assured me this would never happen again. I believed him because I had such a great early experience with Cookie and wanted to believe in Nate and what he was building.
Well…fast forward a few more months and I’m once again being tossed around to new teams that have no background or understanding of my account and the tasks I am paying to be done are not being completed.
That brings us to tax season for 2025 (spring 2026). By the time tax season rolled around, Cookie was unprepared to file returns for their clients and filed for extensions for ALL of us without prior notice or consent. We are also informed the team is overstaffed and they are outsourcing tax preparation to a third party in India. So…that dedicated tax professional you’re paying for? It’s not really a thing. Your taxes are being handled by a random contractor unfamiliar with your account.
It is now early July and my return has still not been processed. On top of this, ZERO bookkeeping has been done for the past 6 months. I’m not joking. They didn’t even login to my books for 6 months. Cookie promises (and I pay for) monthly bookkeeping and monthly P&L reports. I haven't even received a P&L since July of last year – 11 months ago! Yet, Cookie still collects their monthly fee.
I reached back out to Nate in June to express these concerns once again. He says they will expedite my return, which…they did…kind of. I simply received a completed tax return via DocuSign requesting my signature. No other communication. When I look at the return I see obvious mistakes, check my 2025 books, and see they’ve miscategorized over $10k worth of expenses. They didn’t even care to clean up or seek approval on my 2025 books before haphazardly throwing my tax return together. It honestly looks like they just let quickbooks auto-categorize everything and didn’t bother to actually audit the transactions. I cannot overemphasize how OBVIOUS these mistakes were. A high schooler would have caught these.
In some defense, Nate agreed to refund my fees from 2026, but that was 3 weeks ago and it still hasn’t been done.
All in all, I absolutely cannot recommend Cookie to any serious content creator – which is funny because they are constantly pushing their referral program. Notice the barrage of recent positive reviews in the last few days as well from accounts with only one review…use your critical thinking on that one. I genuinely believe Cookie needs to take a SERIOUS step back and stop focusing so much on growth, until they have their operations under control, or they need to be shut down.
And don’t just take this from me. Go to their instagram where you can see clients are reaching out to Cookie via Instagram comments because they simply don’t reply to their clients’ emails.

WASTE OF MONEY/ TAXES NEVER FILED
A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. I now owe so much money in penalties because THEY NEVER FILED MY TAXES. I hired Cookie Finance to handle my bookkeeping and tax preparation, and this has honestly been one of the worst experiences.
I've been paying approximately $400/month for around six months, yet the core services I hired them for have still not been completed. My tax return remains unfiled, I have not received the consistent bookkeeping updates or quarterly P&Ls I expected, and the only time I seem to get any communication is when I repeatedly follow up myself.
I wasn't informed that my return would require an extension since they are backed up. They just went ahead and filed it. I now have to pay penalties every single day that my taxes go unfiled and it was due in March. It is now July.
After six months of billing, I am being told there is still an unresolved question regarding how my two entities should be handled and that, if I choose to keep them separate, I would need to pay for an additional subscription because it requires more work.
Regardless of whether that recommendation is ultimately the correct tax approach, my issue is this: **why wasn't this TOLD TO ME during onboarding?** Both of my entities were disclosed from the very beginning meeting I had with Maddie and she said "sure no problem!!".
I have extensive email records showing that I repeatedly asked for updates. Service as agreed upon has not been delivered, yet I continued to be billed every month!!
What concerns me even more is that after experiencing these issues myself, I saw numerous other creators publicly commenting about very similar experiences under one of Cookie Finance's social media posts. Many described delayed bookkeeping, delayed tax filings, and poor communication. I took screenshots because I was shocked to see how many people were reporting the same concerns. That post was later removed. They're just so sneaky.
Despite these ongoing issues, the company continues marketing to new creators while existing clients are still waiting for completed work and answers.
At this point, I have paid thousands of dollars for services that remain incomplete, yet instead of discussing refunds or taking accountability for the delays, I am being asked to consider paying even more in subscription fees.
I truly wanted this service to work, but I cannot recommend it AT ALL. Other creators deserve to know what my experience has been. So many other creators are going through the same thing. My experience has been horrific.

not worth the money
My tax associate with cookie leaves about ever 2 months and they often forget to assign me a new one. You essentially do your own tax return by spoon-feeding them everything as if you're simply using turbo tax (you have to pay for quickbooks on top of their fee anyways) slow and not useful advice. better off hiring a local professional or just do it yourself with a tax software because that's what you do anyways through their cookiejar website

I've been using Cookie Finance for over…
I've been using Cookie Finance for over a year now. The pricing is much more reasonable that what I used to pay my last accounting firm. I love that they focus on content creators and know their stuff! They handle all my bookkeeping, provide a monthly P&L statement, answer any of my questions, and file my taxes. Thats all i need!
