Hi Mila,
We appreciate you letting us know about your concerns! It sounds like you are feeling frustrated with your experience at Curology. Let's see if we can clarify a few things for you.
First, I’d like to share some general information about hormonal acne. It’s true that hormones can certainly contribute to breakouts, but please know that acne is multi-factorial. Hormones do play a part, but so do other factors such as clogged pores and bacteria. Although one may predominate, all acne is caused by a combination of factors. Therefore, treatments that do not affect hormones directly still help hormonal acne to a variable extent. In fact, these treatments are often necessary in order to counteract the multiple factors that combine to create the "perfect storm" that causes acne breakouts.
Second, I want to reassure you that all of the physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants on our team are highly trained dermatology medical providers. They work as part of an interdisciplinary team with board-certified dermatologists. We also use the same well-studied, proven ingredients that in-person dermatologists have been using for years. As a member of Curology, you can reach out to your provider at any point to discuss changes to your formula and/or routine to help control your acne.
With that said, if you do not want to continue with Curology, we completely understand, and you may be better served by an in-person dermatologist. If you need help finding an in-person dermatologist, you can ask your primary care physician or other local healthcare provider for a recommendation, or visit the American Academy of Dermatology site: https://www.aad.org/find-a-derm. We only want what’s best for you!
We hope you find that information helpful. Please message your curology provider if you'd like to discuss this in more detail. 💜
Best,
Victoria & The Team @ Curology
