About Discovery Voyages
Offering high quality 3 - 6 day cruises with a maximum of 12 guests on the historic Discovery in beautiful Prince William Sound, Alaska (just south of the largest Alaskan city, Anchorage). We do offer a handful of trips that incorporate Denali National Park as well. Prince William Sound encompasses 3,800 miles of coastline to explore via kayak and foot. The Sound is home to the densest concentration of tidewater glaciers in the world, containing 50 glaciers and 17 tidewater glaciers (touching the ocean), known for dramatically calving huge ice chunks into the sea. Enjoy spectacular views from sea level up to 13,000 ft mountain peaks. More than 220 species of birds (and around 200,000 seabirds summer in the Sound), along with 30 species of land mammals, and at least a dozen marine mammal species make this area quite special. Resident marine mammals include humpback, sei, fin, minke, killer whales, and dall's porpoise as well as Steller sea lions, harbor seals, and sea otters. In western Prince William Sound, black bears may be seen on narrow beaches and are most often seen fishing when the salmon are spawning.

What an incredible trip on the Discovery with Captain Dean Rand and Megan! The unending dramatic world of tidewater glaciers kept me spellbound. This magnificent wilderness brought new surprises at every turn—from the flower specked bog meadows and songbirds, to the orcas, harbor seals and sea otters.
And the food was exceptionally delicious and creative, accompanied by great storytelling. Thank you Dean, Meg and crew for bringing visitors to the Nellie Juan College Fjord Wilderness Study Area! It’s certainly a place worth saving for future generations. Wow! 😯

Excellent boat experience
Excellent boat experience. Immaculate inside, terrific food from Meg and helpers, volumes of knowledge from Dean. Short but educational hikes, great fun kayaking near glaciers and thru ice chunks, comfortable sleeping accommodations. They provide boots and warm waterproof gloves, towels and linens, and delightful personalities. Prolific maps and books on board and comfortable main-sitting and dining room conducive to conversation and comfort. Physical activity limited but scenery spectacular. Great trip.

6 stars!
If there was an option for 6 stars I would have selected it! A fantastic experience. Crew was all extremely friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Sights were fantastic, excursions were wonderful, the food was awesome, but the experience was priceless. HIGHLY recommend especially for families who value adventure and seeing nature as nature intended.

Discovery 2021 Prince of Wales
My wife and I really appreciate the crew . Dean , the captain, was professional, extremely knowledgeable, and awesome getting us in position for photography, without upsetting the wildlife. Meg's meals were delicious, filling, and deserts were wonderful! Tori and Hugh, shared their enthusiasm, knowledge, and insight. The hikes and kayaking gave us the physical activities we love, only shortfall there, is the lack of ability from some of the other guests. Both Hugh and Tori worked through that, and stayed positive. The ride and quarters were comfortable and ,while not "spacious" they were clean , private enough. The laughs, and interactions made us feel like it was exactly what we had hoped for. You four were amazing, thank you again for a great Alaskan experience. Always, Terry and Mary Jo

Best small boat trip ever
Best small boat trip ever. Wildlife spectacular, glaciers out of this world, kayaking
Through brac ice great fun, no titanic disaster.walking on bog like big sponge, needed hiking poles, provided for stability. Definitely needed waterproof pants and coats, also thermal underwear. Meals were outstanding. Cabins small and cosy. Up at 4 am, sun up, bed at 9 pm. Exhausted from days activities. Gained 4 pounds. 2 humpback whales, about 20 bald eagles, sea otters, seals. Bears at a distance. Tori and Autumn naturalists great helpers as well as knew their stuff!!!
Madison, our van driver, very knowledgeable on vegetation, wildlife and other
Happenings, tunnel was dark and fun. Thanks for a GREAT TRIP, all 9 of us had a great time. Finding a glacier named after me, wonderful!!
Cruising the Prince William Sound with the crew was one of the best relaxing vacation we have ever experienced. The activities (12-81 years old) met everyone’s expectations and then some. Meals were delicious and filling, again catered to our diets. Our guides, all 4 of them were outstanding, picking points of interest, challenging places to hike, and breathtaking scenery to kayak, while pointing out flora and other native plants etc. This cruise gave our family the time to be together and enjoy one of God's greatest creations, Alaska! Thanks to all the crew! Chery Jones July 2021

Great time
Great time, again. Captain Dean and Co Cap/Chef Megan are great. Very knowledgeable of Prince William Sound, enjoyed all of the glaciers and especially the calving. Also guides Tori and Erin were wonderful, accommodating, and well versed in the wildlife and plantlife and exploration. Will always remember kayaking through the glacier ice fiords.

This was our second time on Discovery…
This was our second time on Discovery and it just keeps getting better and better. Dean and Meg are great hosts. The food is outstanding and the sightseeing amazing. Plus, the activities offer a lot of options to explore. Enjoyed kayaking through the ice flows, up to waterfalls, and through pristine bays. The hikes were just as amazing. The guides Tori and Erin were also exceptional. Thanks again for a wonderful adventure!!
