I really like DogVacay. They have always helped me whenever I have needed it. The only draw back is in the search. I have the most five star reviews have responded to every request. But I still come up second even third sometimes in the search which seems really unfair for having the most stays of anyone in the area with the most repeat guests.

I have been a host with DogVacay for almost a year, and I am so happy with my decision to welcome guest dogs into my home! My client base is solid and wonderful to work with, and DogVacay makes the exchange of money and listing process incredibly easy. Further, as a DogVacay mentor, I feel like I am part of a community here in Chicago and we all have the same goal: to keep pets happy, entertained, and safe during their vacations!

I have loved DV since the day I heard about about them. You have done so much as far as working with me and all host, any time there was a problem. I've had dog fights and you were fantastic with me and with the customer. You took care of host and customer. But, lately you have attempted to take the percent we make from 15% to 25%. That is attempted theft. Next you are charging some customers a 4-9% fee. We don't know what % or what customers. Now thats not theft, it's unethical. Next is a problem now and has been a good while. The placement on the search. Those of us that have the numbers (reviews, repeat guests, all credentials, etc.) should rewarded with better placement on the search. I do appreciate you guys and what you do. You just need to slow down a bit and remember who put DV on the top.

Hi Jim, Thank you for your review. I completely understand your concerns regarding the change in fees, and I want to clarify a few things for you. Our Guest fee is a 7% fee. Please note that any Guest that signed up prior to the fee being implemented will not have a fee. Additionally, in order to better support the growth of our business, new Hosts will see a service fee of 20%. That said, all Hosts who joined our community prior to this change, will be grandfathered in and their fee will remain at 15%. Please know, we value the relationships we have built with our Host Community and we appreciate all of the hard work done by amazing Hosts such as yourself, and we want that to continue for years to come. The fees are one way for us to do just that. Lastly, we understand your concern regarding the search results and please know we are constantly working to support and offer opportunity to all Hosts in the DogVacay Community, this includes both new and long time Hosts. With that said, the search functionality and algorithm are constantly changing and we appreciate your feedback. We take all suggestions from our Guests and Hosts into consideration while making updates, and have forwarded your suggestions to the appropriate team. A little over a year ago, my daughter and I decided to fill the void left by the nearly simultaneous passing of our elderly dog and cat, by becoming DogVacay hosts. Since we didn't have our own animals anymore, our intention was to offer extra loving care for senior pups or other dogs with special needs, along with the younger more social crowd. We also hoped to have a cat or two along the way. We were stunned by how quickly our DogVacay calendar began to fill up with a wide variety of dogs and cats, the vast majority of which had been rescued by loving new "forever" owners. Luckily for us, the DogVacay support team was only an e-mail or phone call away to help us navigate the booking process and deal with any unexpected bumps we had as we established our dog hotel routines. Our client notebook now has over 50 guests, with more signing up as we have room to accommodate them in our schedule. We've discovered that our services can be life changing for those with special needs animals who were afraid to leave them in traditional kennels or with strangers. The mark these sweet babies leave on our hearts is lasting. We recently had to say goodbye to one of our dearest senior dogs, and we felt the loss almost as much as if he had been a member of our family. It's a pleasure and honor to be trusted with such precious family members, and as our bookings grow so does our sense of having an important mission - one that comes with wagging tails and wet noses! As writers, we spend long days at home, working on our books and other projects. Now we have an endless supply of four-legged friends to provide love and inspiration while we work, and some much needed exercise when we need to take a break! The experience of being DogVacay hosts has been everything and more than we'd hoped it would be.
