When using traditional U.S. mail, there is an unfortunate but real risk of bad actors intercepting mail and impersonating individuals. While this type of fraud is beyond our control, it’s one of the reasons we are a digital-first bank and strongly encourage the use of our virtual debit cards whenever possible. They provide faster, more secure access to your funds by avoiding the vulnerabilities of traditional mail and using a physical card with advanced card controls that give you greater visibility and control over how, when, and where your card is used. Please know that this is not the intended or desired outcome of your banking experience. Our team is actively investigating this incident and taking it very seriously. Based on what you've described, it appears this may be a case of identity theft, as someone would have needed access to your personal identifying information (PII) to activate the card, confirm account details, and withdraw the funds. We recommend continuing to monitor your account closely and consider placing fraud alerts or credit freezes as an added precaution.
