I ended up not submitting document and not accepting job offer because of their harrasment . I dont know how they are surviving . They need all info at their tips . If business phone is changed its your reaponaibility to go to business in different city and get number. They reject document as it is not in correct format. Never faced anything like this before

The whole process made me feel less like a candidate and more like an escaped criminal being tracked down. HireRight seemed to contact people almost at random, including former company contacts who haven’t worked there for around five years. They repeatedly requested documents I had already explained do not exist, sometimes asking for the same information again after I had already provided an explanation and alternative supporting documentation. It was extremely difficult to understand the logic behind the process or what exactly would satisfy each request. Overall, the experience was unnecessarily stressful, confusing, and invasive. There seemed to be very little coordination between different parts of the verification process, and I spent far too much time repeating the same information.

Their verification process is very intrusive, they said payslip and tax forms are acceptable now they’re requesting for more information hence I had to send my employment contract just to satisfy their hell bent intrusive verification.

The prior negative TP and BBB reviews (not a BBB-accredited company) - please use for reference. Can't understand the reps. They develop portals with password protect functions for documents, but there is no way to set up the passwords. They put you on hold every two minutes to "ask my peer." And we are supposed to trust them with our information. The biggest companies in the US are using these people - might be time to report this to the federal agencies that rely on the info for the employees.

They waste time, give no good results at all. Ask irrelevant things.

HireRight has been one of the most frustrating and inefficient background check processes I have ever dealt with. I provided W-2s, paystubs, IRS earnings records, an employer verification, an offer letter, termination documentation, and multiple records clearly showing that I worked for the companies in question. Despite that, I continued receiving repetitive automated requests asking me to prove the same employment history over and over again. The worst part was being asked to explain the corporate affiliation between a former employer and its payroll/HR provider, as if a normal employee would somehow know the legal or contractual structure between those companies. My documents already showed the relationship, yet I was still expected to explain it myself. Their support process was equally poor. The chat was automated, the phone system initially routed through AI, and even after reaching a person I was still being asked questions that should have been resolved by reviewing the documentation already submitted. A background check should verify employment, not force applicants to become investigators into the internal corporate structure of companies they worked for years ago. This process was unnecessarily burdensome, repetitive, and poorly designed. If employers are going to outsource something this important, they should expect the vendor to apply basic judgment instead of blindly following an automated checklist.

My background check took nearly three weeks to complete, from August 11 to August 31, with multiple delays and estimated completion dates that kept getting pushed back. At one point I stopped measuring the turnaround time in business days and started measuring it in academic semesters. When HireRight started my background check, the fall semester hadn’t even begun. By the time they finished, students were already into their second week of classes. The grand finale after nearly three weeks of additional research? “Complete - No Court Record Found” and “Meets Company Standards.” Apparently HireRight needed three weeks to conduct an exhaustive investigation into the existence of absolutely nothing. HireRight: because finding nothing takes time.

I would NOT recommend this service to ANY company that needs a BG or DS completed in a timely manner. I would especially not use them for post-accident drug screens. There is NO sense of urgency on their part; they take a week to notify you that they have not been able to verify past employment (so you have to do it yourself if you want to onboard someone is a timely manner). You constantly have to follow up with them and the responses are typically, "we will get it done when we can". Absolutely terrible. I think they cram as many clients as they can into their system, send out ONE inquiry, and then sit. If they received a response from an employer or school, great. If not, you won't find out for at least a week or you need to constantly follow up with them.
