Industrial ScriptsReviews of industrialscripts.com

A fairly full-on day. To the point. A great primer to the business of Script Reading, taught by a very pleasant, enthusiastic, industry-insider. More material than can be covered in a single session, it's definitely worth going through the course notes again, in detail, whilst working through the following week's hand-in / assignment. Great opportunity to meet a handful of other Readers / Writers, too.

The course provided a thorough grounding in all aspects of being a script reader. I approached it as a writer looking to better understand the reader's role so as to improve my own work: this objective was fully met. Making you think about the commercial appeal of material is a particularly good aspect of the course. The instructor is an experienced writer and reader and thoroughly knew his stuff. As with all Industrial Scripts services, I recommend this course.

The Script Reading Course was particularly impressive due to the small size of the group of seven candidates. This made it possible for the long day very endurable with plenty of interaction and good opportunity for 'networking'. It felt like all the necessary elements were well packaged and delivered very satisfactorily. I came away feeling more confident and possibly 'knowledgeable' at the end. I can say the Course was certainly value for money.

The Script Reading Course was an extremely informative and insightful look at both the process of script reading, and how the role fits into the industry as an important part of the development process. The day was intense but this was most definitely a positive as we were able to get as much information as possible within the day, and also as a reflection of script reading as part of the industry which is by nature, very intense. The tutor was extremely good at relaying information and encouraging us to interact so that we could fully absorb what was being taught and engage with the subject matter. I would definitely recommend to anybody wanting to get involved in script reading and development.

This script reading course was well-structured and managed to pack in a lot of useful information in to a single day. The small class size and the fact that it was only a day worked well - intense but comprehensive. What I found particularly useful was the emphasis on the importance of estimating the commercial potential of a script - we were told about what sort of projects were working particularly well in the British market, information which has made me start reading initial drafts in a new way. We were also given a realistic picture of the industry and the general level of hard work and experience required to be a successful script reader. Overall, the course exceeded my expectations and I would recommend it for someone thinking about moving into script development.

As a Production Assistant currently working in TV, but hoping to transition into Script Development, I found this course both relevant and insightful. The course was well structured and delivered in an informal and friendly atmosphere, making the seemingly intense day manageable. The small class size gave an intimate learning environment, which allowed for safe space to openly discuss ideas, and opinions on the course materials we reviewed. I feel the information and understanding I’ve gained is absolutely invaluable. Not only am I now looking at screen plays and my own work with fresh eyes, I’ve come away with an up to date list of contacts to gain actual work in the industry, and a few contacts from my fellow course members.

I decided to enrol to this course as I was looking for a career change. I wanted to know if script reading would be something that I would like to do. I am pretty happy to have done it. It helped me to have an insight in the industry, understand much better what the executives are looking for, thanks to the valuable information we were given. Besides, it is also very interesting to have a post – course assignment because you realise how much you had learnt. It is totally worth it if you are in your first steps of pursuing a career in script reading.

A very informative course that provided a thorough introduction to script reading. The course is well structured and presented, spending the right amount of time on each section. Not only did I gain an understanding of script reading, but the course also encouraged me to think about script writing in a different manner. The small class size created a more relaxed atmosphere that encouraged participation and discussion. The course notes complement the presentation but also go into some more detail than the one day course can allow. The post-course assignment offered a satisfying challenge to use what I had learnt on the course and to try and improve my skills. The course didn't shy away from the realities of the competitive industry, but it has provided an excellent starting point from which I hope to establish myself as a script reader.
