Latico Leathers is a family-run leather goods brand that has been making full-grain leather handbags since 1984. Paul Schreiber started the company after a trip through South America, selling bags out of a car trunk in New York City before landing in Greenwich Village boutiques. It is still run by the Schreiber family today, headquartered in Denville, New Jersey, with staffed phone hours and a real person on the other end.Every bag is cut from 100% full-grain leather, the outermost layer of the hide. It softens with use and develops a patina over the years rather than peeling the way coated and plastic-based alternatives do. Bags are handcrafted in small batches by artisans in South America and India, using leather from LWG-certified tanneries. Nothing is made in China.The inside matters as much as the outside. Crosby leather crossbody -when your review is not request??? Flag. Used now 2.5 weeks/getting into it and putting back in one of 3 items is like using a sandwhich bag, soft squish on a strap, just does not work. At this price point, un uh!!! Looking for better made with even a-little form, folks— Small needs some kind of form, or we get tired after day of travel, too much tugging/pulling

They sent me a DEFECTIVE PRODUCT, the purse is UNWEARABLE and they refuse to allow a return. The customer service is THE WORST!! Never going to purchase from them again. Awful experience. No integrity

Not sure yet. But here is the story. I saw a back pack I like and wanted to buy it. But I read on Google that sometimes “ new moon boutique sells them 10% cheaper. So I went to new moon boutique. The ordering was clunky and I am not sure I got the right color. Than when I went back to “ Latico” and lo and behold they dropped their price too. So I called the listed number for “new moon boutique” and got the reply that the person doesn’t have an answering system set up. It became apparent to me they are a one man reseller operation. So my question to Latico is why do they deal with these resellers ??. It takes a life time to earn the trust and you can loose all of it in one afternoon ???

Thank you for laying this out so clearly. It is a fair question and it deserves a straight answer. Latico Leathers has sold through independent boutiques since 1984. Those shops are how a family business got started, and many of them are still the reason someone finds us in a town where we have no other presence. We are glad they exist. What you ran into is the real cost of that. We control our own site, our own service, and our own phone line. We do not control every shop that carries the line, and when the experience there falls short it lands on our name, exactly as you said. So, two things. We are looking into the seller you described, including the pricing. And if you order from us directly you get our warranty, our returns, and a person on the phone during business hours at (973) 442-9622. On your last point, you are right. Trust takes a long time to build. If you still want that backpack, call or email us and we will make sure you get the right one in the right color.

I saw a bunch of colors of this bag at a boutique in Colorado and they were gorgeous! So I ordered this one online when I got home and I highly caution against buying anything from this brand online, ever! This bag arrived defective 2 times and I waited weeks for them to receive the return, process it, and ship the "replacement." It reeked of some disgusting, foul smelling and its not packed correctly and the leather is cracking and smashed in and no amount of stuffing or filling it helps. The customer service was the absolute rudest, most unhelpful customer service I have ever received. Zero support, apologies, or anything! They could have cared less about the defects or making it right. I have dozens of leather bags and was going to buy this in every color because the ones I saw in Clorado were so cute in person, but never again with this brand! I have no words for what a bad experience this was and what an awful brand Laticio is.

Elizabeth, we are so sorry. Two defective bags, weeks of waiting, and a support experience that left you feeling dismissed. There is no version of that we can defend. I would rather name the failures than talk around them. A bag with cracked, crushed leather should not have shipped, and it certainly should not have shipped twice. The packaging and the smell you describe are ours to fix. And nobody should come away from a conversation with us feeling like their problem was an inconvenience to us. That last part is the one I take hardest. We are a family business, and being reachable and being decent about it is supposed to be the thing we are known for. Hearing that we were the rudest service you have dealt with is not something I want to explain away. I would like to fix this properly, and it should be your choice: a full refund, or a replacement that I inspect myself before it goes out. Please call (973) 442-9622. I’ve ordered several bags from them and they have all been reasonably priced and the leather is terrific. It’s buttery soft. Many of their bags have built in card slots so you don’t need a wallet. American company and bags are NOT made in China. Speedy delivery also

Just got the Mason Leather Crossbody Bag in color tan. Really like it so far, and great size. I also liked the interactive online sizing chart when I was choosing my bag. Leather is very soft, and I like all the pockets.
