A very poor experience
A poor experience, spent £2500, prolonged with no tangible results. Made worse by receiving an offer to explore the results found if we paid more money. Beyond disappointing.

I had really difficult research ahead. Legacy found a person who could read difficult German script and hard to find documents scattered in archives. My last report was great, many copies of the actual script, good organization and recommendations and some fun facts that will help in my future trip to see their "villages."

Hi Nancy, thank you so much for the wonderful review! We're thrilled that our team could decipher those tricky German records for you. Have an amazing time visiting the villages on your upcoming trip!

I found the experience to be positive. Due to it being the first time I had used zoom I felt quite apprehensive but Caleb patiently took me through the steps. I learned that generations ago parents used to sometimes use the same name for a child that had previously been used for a young deceased child. Very frustrating when researching names in a family tree and I doubt parents would do that today but in those days baby/child mortality was high. I would recommend Legacy Tree Genealogist if you have hit a problem in your tree. You may not get a definite answer but a point in the right direction as to where the research could have had an error input within a family tree.

Hi Denise, Thank you for the fantastic review! We're thrilled to hear that Caleb made your first Zoom experience a breeze. Uncovering historical family naming patterns can certainly be tricky to navigate, so we're incredibly glad our team could help point your research in the right direction. Thank you for recommending Legacy Tree Genealogists, and happy researching!

Having previously engaged in several captivating projects, this one felt somewhat like a compilation of miscellaneous objectives—as a result of emerging inquiries, unresolved issues, and hypothetical scenarios. This project did not disappoint and delivered the same level of astonishing revelations as previous endeavors, primarily through meticulous research and DNA analysis. The most intriguing discovery involved a cryptic entry in my Great Great Grandfather’s obituary—a stepdaughter I was previously unaware of, which could have potentially provided valuable insights into the enigmatic family lineage of my Great Great Grandmother. Legacy Tree accurately identified this woman as the maternal half-sister of my Great Great Grandfather, which was an equally gratifying revelation. Further research conducted in the Italian archives, by an on-site researcher (which I highly recommend to anyone presented with this option), proved to be particularly rewarding and fulfilling. This research answered multiple questions and fulfilled several project objectives. And finally, the extensive effort required to further establish a family line that has been elusive to me; these discoveries were invaluable and would have been unattainable without the assistance of Legacy Tree. I have consistently been highly satisfied with the outcomes of my projects and would wholeheartedly recommend the services of Legacy Tree to individuals seeking to uncover the history of their ancestors, particularly those with brick walls or a general curiosity about their family lineage. I extend my sincere gratitude to the Legacy Tree team for providing me with novel and captivating insights into my family’s past. KLJ

Hi Kristy, Thank you so much for bringing another project to us! Honestly, those "miscellaneous objectives" projects, the ones built on lingering questions, wild hypotheticals, and nagging brick walls, are often our absolute favorite to dive into. Breaking through those long-standing brick walls alongside you has been so rewarding. Thank you for trusting us with your family’s story time and time again, and for recommending us to other curious lineage-hunters out there. Warmly, The Legacy Tree Team

This is our second ancestry research project with LTG. Both successfully completed and met our goals. Their project management is organized and focused, and researchers are expert at finding elusive details that simple online searches just can't get to. Simply put, they know where to look. We are already considering a third project with LTG.

Thank you so much Bruce for trusting us with not just one, but two family history projects! We’re thrilled to hear that both projects successfully met your goals and that you valued the organization and expertise of our team. Finding those elusive details often means knowing where to look beyond the most commonly available records, and we’re so glad our researchers could uncover meaningful answers for your family. We truly appreciate your continued trust in Legacy Tree Genealogists and would be honored to work with you again on a third project!

I engaged Legacy Tree Genealogists in July 2026 for a $11,500 genealogy research project, verbally agreeing to a 3-month installment payment plan with my research goals fully discussed and confirmed at that time. Instead, my card was charged the full amount in a single transaction, with no invoice or receipt ever issued. Over the following five weeks, the assigned project manager restructured the project’s scope and hours four separate times, each time introducing new paid add-ons or “rush fee” options, rather than simply starting the work that had already been agreed upon. More than 40 days after payment, the company’s own written communication admitted that no research had actually started. Several family lines I provided were already well-documented on my end, so there was no legitimate reason for this level of delay. When I requested a refund, I was met with more sales pitches instead of a resolution. Based on my experience, and on similar patterns described in other reviews here, I’d recommend looking elsewhere before committing significant money to this company.

I had very specific objectives and documentation requirements related to an application for citizenship. LTG satisfied all requirements in a responsive and professional manner.

I paid over 5k for services and basically got a copy paste of everything I already had in my private ancestry profile. It took months to get that information, the pretty small filled narrative of information I already knew. The plus side, was the discovery of my blood ancestors through my self-paid DNA test. My friend asked for recommendations from me on their work and I honestly couldn't. I gave her the info I am giving you now.

We’re sorry to hear your experience didn’t meet expectations. It appears there was a communication gap regarding the project's scope; while our team focused on deep biographical details for your ancestral line per your selected preferences, we recognize this may have resulted in work that overlapped with some of your existing knowledge. We value your feedback and want to make this right. A member of our team will be contacting you directly to resolve your concerns and make sure your goals are properly addressed.
