I think my first using this platform was way back 2021. I tried using it again this year 2026, and it seems no changes have happened. I just hoped you could somehow go with what is trending now. I mean, I just hoped of more visual and interactive inside the platform. But, yeah, it's still helpful for SEO purposes.

Medium was a great experience for me as a writer. It has a huge number of writers and editors ranging from best-selling and celebrity to rank beginners. For those who want to get serious about writing, there are plenty of members offering incredibly valuable advice. I disagree with some of the bad reviews here; I can't speak to the tech & payment problems, but Medium has a lot going for it. As a platform it's easy to use with high domain ranking. You'll get better exposure here than on most other platforms. The platform's content contains a lot of crap but it also hosts sterling writers and publications like The Atlantic and the NY Times. Read the content you're interested in and the algorithms will catch on. Unfortunately, I've reduced my rating because, as others have noted here, Medium is a hotbed of far-left SJW extremism and in the past year appears to have affected the staff. People DO get banned for having unwoke opinions. I'm one of them. They also take down stories they don't like. They suspended two of my articles and the last one which criticized the Holy Sacred Transfolk. Friends still on the platform tell me Medium is cracking down on ANY criticism of the trans movement and one writer actually had the balls to write about how they threatened to take him down if he criticized transwomen again. DO. NOT. CRITICIZE. THE. TRANS. COMMUNITY. EVER. on Medium. They are, like Caesar's wife, beyond reproach. The platform turns a blind eye to blatant man-hating feminists and white-hating black bigots. However, they've also got some really terrific black and feminist writers too, and credible, qualified people writing about fascinating subjects in their wheelhouse. For the rest, you can mute or block anyone you don't like. If you don't upset the snowflakes, Medium's great for writers. For all my harsh words I learned so, so much. I will always be grateful to them for the opportunity of blogging there for a few years. I wish they'd just tone down the SJW extremism. So I republished the 'verboten' stories elsewhere and no heads exploded :)

I am going to highlight a bit on Medium's double standards (if it's not, Medium should come forward to clarify it). When it comes to SEO, we all know that Medium doesn't offer any of its individual contributors DoFollow backlinks. However, an individual site, owned by the founder of Medium's largest publication (StartItUp) is having more than 9k DoFollow backlinks. How come?

The categories I selected as interests to receive articles about were never received. I'm not so interested in following individual authors or publications, I'd rather have a mixed bag that is kept fresh and updated. I've used it for a few days and really enjoy the content and community, just wish I could have a more active and refreshing recommendation feed.

This website is very biased. The categories that I selected to receive articles about were never received. I “clapped” for an article about gaslighting and those are the only articles that I have received. I chose love not chaos to read about all of the time. I don’t want to read about negativity in each email. I also selected photography, politics, and arts as categories but never received any articles. The website is nice and the navigation of it. This is the main reason I didn’t purchase the subscription!
