The Service That Picks Up Where Formation Companies Leave OffForming your LLC was the easy part. Keeping it alive? That's where most business owners get blindsided.Missed annual reports. Dissolution notices buried in junk mail. State portals that change without warning. One overlooked deadline and suddenly you're scrambling to reinstate a business you thought was fine.Next Step Filings started after we watched exactly that happen,a dissolution notice for a filing that should have been handled. That moment made something clear: countless services help you form an LLC, but almost none help you maintain it.We built the solution that was missing. We handle the filings that keep your business in good standing. Annual renewals, certificates, EINs, labor law posters, multi-state deadlines. You answer a few questions. We verify everything by hand before it goes to the state. No automation guessing. No hidden fees. Clear communication from submission to acceptance. We're built for first-time founders who don't know what the state actually needs. For parents running local businesses who can't babysit government portals. For multi-entity operators juggling compliance across state lines.Your business shouldn't dissolve because of paperwork you didn't know existed. We stay ahead of deadlines so you never have to.

Absolutely misleading and deceptive marketing. Next Step Filings sends what appears to be an official state document, using government-style formatting and language that makes it look like the notice is coming from a state agency. It is not. Buried in the fine print is the fact that this is a private company soliciting payment for a filing service. This is the kind of mailer that can easily fool a business owner into thinking they have received an official government notice and that payment is required. There is nothing wrong with offering a legitimate filing service. There is something wrong with making a private solicitation look like an official government document. I would strongly recommend not sending them money until you independently verify what the filing is, whether it is actually required, and who is requesting it. In my opinion, this company relies far too heavily on confusion and the appearance of government authority to get people to pay for something they may not need. Read the fine print before you pay. Better yet, contact the actual state agency directly.

I would listen to the 1 star reviews... I received a mailer designed to closely mimic an official New Jersey state government notice regarding annual business registration. The mailer used state-style formatting, a New Jersey outline graphic, urgent "FINAL NOTICE" language, and multiple hard deadlines to pressure payment of $175, when the actual New Jersey annual report fee is $75. Only in small print does the mailer disclose that the sender, "Next Step Filings," is not a government agency and is not affiliated with the State of New Jersey. Details of the mailer Sender: Next Step Filings, 1077 North Ave #6117, Elizabeth, NJ 07201 Website(s): nextstepfilingsnj.com, NextStepFilingsNJ.com Phone: 1 (888) 851-6604 Titled "2026 - Annual Registration Instruction Form (New Jersey LLCs) FINAL NOTICE," with a New Jersey state outline graphic and the phrase "New Jersey Working for You." Pre-printed with our correct business name, address, and NJ Document Number (XXXXXXXXX), giving the mailer an appearance of official record-matching. Multiple conflicting urgent deadlines printed on the same document: "Please Respond By 08/20/2026," "Due Date 08/31/2026," and on the reverse "IMPORTANT! YOUR ANNUAL REGISTRATION MUST BE FILED BY 7/31" with a separate "Please Respond By 07/20/2026" — inconsistent dates that appear designed to manufacture urgency rather than convey accurate information. Quotes NJ statute language (NJ Code §14A:4-5) to lend legal authority to the notice. Requests payment of $175 by check, credit card, or QR code, described as including "the $75.00 state fee and late filing fee," despite no late fee being owed. A small disclosure buried in body text states "Next Step Filings is not a government agency and is not affiliated." This disclosure is not present in the bold headline, deadline boxes, or payment sections, where the government-notice impression is created. Why this is deceptive The visual design (state outline seal, "Final Notice," statute citations, government-style layout) is intended to create the impression of an official state communication. It charges more than double the actual New Jersey state filing fee ($175 vs. $75) for a filing businesses can complete themselves directly through the NJ Division of Revenue at njportal.com. It uses manufactured urgency (multiple conflicting deadlines, "final notice" language, threat of administrative dissolution) to pressure quick payment before the recipient can verify the claims. Other businesses nationally have reported the same company (also operating as nextstepfilings.com / nextstepfilings.net) using near-identical tactics in other states, including Virginia, with complaints on BBB Scam Tracker and ScamPulse describing similar "final notice" mailers, inflated fees, and difficulty obtaining refunds.

This company is a scam which tries to get you to pay them for services you do not need by pretending to be official organizations, such as the Virginia SCCC. Stay away from them.

This company preys upon people's anxieties. I received the very official government looking mail with first notice and late filing fee on it. I panicked thinking that I was late for my annual registration. When I go directly on the scc website from the secretary's office, I was able to confirm that I am not in fact late. Please don't use this service to pay your annual registration fee. It is so simple to just go an pay a much cheaper fee directly to the place that it needs to go.

I’d been doing this informally for years and finally decided to make it official. I didn’t know where to start. Next Step Filings walked me through the whole thing, got my LLC set up properly, and helped me get my EIN. The first time I saw my business name on an official document I actually teared up a little. They didn’t rush me, they didn’t over-complicate it. Just handled it. I’m so glad I found them.
