About Paylocity
Paylocity is an award-winning HCM platform that brings HR, Finance, and IT together in one system. Organizations use it to manage payroll, benefits, spend, talent, and IT, with AI built into everyday workflows. Customers cut payroll processing time significantly and replace multiple disconnected systems with one. Founded in 1997, Paylocity is consistently recognized as one of the best places to work, and that culture carries into how they work with clients.
Paylocity (paylocity.com) has 130 customer reviews on Folks Told, with an average rating of 1.2 out of 5.
Paylocity has gotten too big and is all about pushing useless screen development changes that do not work and are not fully tested. There is a lack of accuracy in the screens that we have repeatedly reported for months with no change or improvement. Development team refuses to engage and the one instance they did they were unprofessional and condescending in my opinion. We prepared extensive screenshots for their review ahead of meeting and No one even looked at them. Its been a month and no one has gotten back to us. I would look elsewhere

Exceptionally Poor Service
**Locked out of my FSA funds. Hung up on when I asked for help.**
I have a four-year-old with chronic health needs. We spend a lot of time and money making sure he gets the care he needs, and I set aside money from every paycheck in an FSA to help cover those expenses.
Right now, I'm locked out of those funds because of outstanding substantiation requests, including charges made directly at hospitals and medical providers.
I understand there are IRS rules. Fine. But the amount of paperwork required to prove that medical expenses are, in fact, medical expenses is absurd.
After multiple calls, each involving more than 30 minutes on hold and practically begging an automated system to let me speak to a person, I finally reached someone today.
I explained up front that I was trying to pay for my four-year-old's healthcare and was worried about being unable to access the money I'd set aside for it.
She suggested submitting insurance EOBs. I explained that many of our providers are out of network and don't bill insurance, so those documents don't exist. She also mentioned that some employers opt into automatic substantiation and mine apparently hadn't. When I asked whether that was a cost consideration, she gave me an explanation about accountable parties and suggested I wouldn't understand.
I was frustrated. Of course I was. But I didn't swear at her, threaten her, or personally insult her.
**She hung up on me.**
I keep coming back to that part.
I had just told another human being that I was scared about being unable to pay for my child's care because I couldn't access my own money. And her response to my frustration was to end the conversation.
I work in customer experience. I know these jobs aren't easy, and I know frustrated customers aren't always pleasant. But I also know what empathy looks like. It doesn't require breaking policy or promising something you can't deliver. Sometimes it just means recognizing that the person on the other end of the phone is dealing with something bigger than a transaction.
I went looking at Paylocity's reviews afterward and found plenty of people describing the same bureaucratic nightmare: rejected receipts, suspended cards, inaccessible funds, and an inability to get meaningful help.
I'm still shocked by how this interaction ended. Not because I expected her to solve everything, but because I expected some basic kindness.
I shouldn't have to fight this hard to access money I've set aside to take care of my kid. And I certainly shouldn't be hung up on for asking someone to help me figure out how.

The worst FSA administrator
The worst FSA administrator. Two claims for two separate visits. Approve one. Deny the other for “No Date of Service”. The receipt literally says “Date of Service” with the date and time. I’m so glad my company is dropping them next year. Avoid Paylocity at all costs!

Paylocity sucks
Paylocity sucks. It doesnt even let me anyone clock put unless you are in a specific location. It is not that good and if yoy try to change your password or forgot it at least it won't send you the passcode. It is the worst way to clock in and clock out period.

What customer service
What customer service. They have no customer service unless you are a client; i.e. someone who uses them to pay their employees.
Employees themselves have no way to reach out to paylocity directly. So WHEN the screw up your paycheck, you won't be able to do anything about it.

If I could give zero stars
If I could give zero stars, I would. The implementation process was a DISASTER. They entered all of our employees information with innacurate information. Employees had other employees last names, email address, etc. They requested that I uploaded our onboarding documents so they could create an onboarding packet for the new hires and they did not upload the right thing so our new hires haven't been filling out the right information which has caused us to be out of compliance with our state license. They did not set up or tell me how to set up our Sick time benefits for employees. I could not get a response from the time and labor gentlemen on most of my questions and for some reason employees are able to edit their own timecards. I was told we would have immediate answers from our "dedicated account management team" but I have sat on the phone for more than an hour just to get a simple issue resolved. Their employees are clearly lacking training and I feel like they were not transparent with the quality of their services.

Extremely overpriced and terrible…
Extremely overpriced and terrible customer service. Their contract is also very predatory. Would never use them again and actively advise anyone to not use them.
