So, the process of obtaining this letter was easy and the therapist meeting was quick and painless. Potential landlord did not accept the letter and would not even bother reading over the laws and regulations. Not pettable's fault but now I'm out over $100.

They'll try to help you, but just know if your landlord fights the validity of your letter there's so much grey area in the law that it really ends up being up to the judge when it comes to an eviction over an ESA. The judge can determine that the phone interview with Pettable's therapist is not enough to consider them as treating you for your mental illness or having enough knowledge about your situation. I speak from experience as I almost went to court to fight an eviction because my apartment complex would not accept ESA letters from a therapist out of state, and my lawyer reccomended I just moved because the judge could easily authorize an eviction order because I couldn't prove ongoing treatment with the therapist that wrote the letter. I reccomend if you know that the landlord is strict with ESA letters, you get a letter from someone you have been seeing for a while instead so you can prove that they've been treating you. Not just one phone call. People who don't actually need ESA's and are just trying to keep their pets by using these sites have made it so much harder for the people who actually need them. Because I didn't need ongoing treatment after my therapist reccomending an ESA 5 years ago, I tried to use Pettable because I needed a letter that was dated within a year for my new apartment. And although they did write me a letter and reccomended I get a lawyer when the apartment management fought my letter, they should be more honest about the fact that these letters CAN be fought and you can still legally lose your home or have to give up your animal. Pettable ended up refunding my money so at least there's that.. but I had to come up with way more money to get a new apartment that allowed my animal. I wish I would have just started seeing a new therapist a month before I moved or something instead.
