Too many people posting on here but not really looking for anything. Out dated post that still re.ain. If already found a place not sure why posting still active. Some ppl on here wouldn't even respond after I respond to them immediately about the availability. Lot of ppl on here just looking to bother with ridiculous questions including wanting to move in a month further than what they posted

Honestly, I've had almost no success in the last 3 years using this app. Sometimes I get close, but to no avail. I hop back on whenever I need to list a room in my house for rent. There always seems to be a lot of the same people on, so I'm not sure if they're in a decent situation and just seeing what pops up over time, or what. Many of the matches don't communicate (which very well could just be my house and situation is not for them), and there are seemingly now scammers. I've run into men posing as women and saying inappropriate things via text when we get to a point of external communications, pictures that aren't representative of their profile (clearly older people with age set to 18 and more), and of course, just no successful matches. I'm not sure why this is but I would have expected after paying for probably 6+ months worth of subscription services I'd have had someone fill my rooms. I'm honestly only seemed to have success on FB Marketplace which is primarily a cesspool as it is of poor candidates, people not reading, or an almost exclusive subset of people FB pushes to my listing for some reason. I'm not sure if I'll continue to use or recommend the app after I fill this new listing or not, but I can say I haven't been at all satisfied with the outcome unfortunately. At least the platform is simple and straightforward.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your honest experience. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your time on the platform hasn’t met expectations over the past few years. It’s clear you’ve put in the effort, and it’s frustrating when that effort doesn’t lead to results—especially when you're investing both time and money. Regarding the presence of scammers and mismatched profiles, we encourage reporting any suspicious behavior so our Trust & Safety team can take appropriate action. That said, we know prevention is better than reaction, and your concerns will be shared with our product and safety teams to help improve verification and matching accuracy. It’s good to hear you found the platform itself easy to use—simplicity is one thing we aim for. Thank you again for being candid. We’ll be using this feedback to keep pushing for a better experience. We're constantly working to improve the platform, and reports like yours help guide those efforts. Hello, Finding a roommate can be really challenging. We strongly encourage all users to complete ID verification if possible, as it is a way to communicate to others that you are being transparent and serious about finding a roommate. We give the option to search for ID verified users to increase the possibility of finding a serious roommate. Here are some additional tips to assist in making the most out of Roommates.com. 1. Start with Your Matches. Your Match List, accessible from the "Matches" tab in your account, was created based on the profile criteria you provided. If possible, we recommend broadening your preferences in order to increase your Matches. Check out our Edit Your Profile Help Center article for instructions if necessary. 2. Use the "Search" Page. This page allows for a broader search based on fewer criteria, showing profiles that may not be "Perfect Matches" but are still looking for roommates in your area. 3. Engage Through the Message Center. We recommend sending messages to all members on your Match List and using the Search page to connect with more potential roommates. 4. Upload Photos. Many members prefer to connect with profiles that include photos. For guidance, see our Help Center article on photo uploads. Feel free to contact us with any questions to make the most of your time on Roommates.com. Additionally, please check out our Help Center for more information about the site. Good luck with your search,
Reinhardt M.
I really wish I could say something positive about this website as the UX is there, but the lack of moderation and attempt to keep users accountable is just appalling. I have only found one genuine renter out of the 100s of results. The rest are either obvious scams with the same "Please interact with me off the site as I am often not on this platform" or people who were allowed on the platform with very little verification or no activity in months.
