Customer service was excellent

Incredibly difficult lender. I have a different experience every time I log in. Sometimes I have to log in 2-4 times just to access my account. No matter how many times I put in my cell number, it never remembers it. It is also extremely difficult to make payments to principal. I've never had an issue with any lender on being able to make principal payments. All of their support team is overseas and does a horrible job of communicating. I was told I could make principal payments over the phone, and I've been on hold for over 30 minutes now being told I can't. I can pay months ahead and pre pay that interest though. Scam of a lender and I can't wait to move my car note off of them.

Santander consumer USA is the worst financial institution I have ever dealt with. They charge you fees by getting you to agree to an agreement that says you may incur fees. Then at the end of your loan they slap almost 2,000 of extra fees on to your account with not a single statement showing how they came to the amount they charged you. Where I lived was hit hard by hurricane ida we had no electricity for over a month. Homes were destroyed, people couldn't work, businesses were destroyed, I was out of work for over a month after losing all my food having damage to my belongings. I called to get my payment deferred and I agreed to the recorded statement saying I may incur fees. Then a month after Ida came I lost my 13 year old son and had to pay for a funeral also. So I was actually out of work almost 2 months. Had to get September and October payments deferred. A year later my daughter passed away and I was out of work again got that payment deferred. Fast forward to about a year left in my loan I noticed that the amount wasn't adding up. My monthly payment and the amount of months left was about 2,000 less then what they was saying I owed with the extra 3 months added to the end of the loan. I called to find out why it wasn't adding up to be told that when my loan ended in June of 2026 I would have a balance of over 1,800 dollars remaining that would have to be paid in full at the time of the end of the loan. That was the first I heard of this amount being added to my loan. So I'm trying to figure out where they got this number from not one person I talked to could tell me how they came up with almost 2,000 worth of fees for deferred payments. I still had to pay the note plus the interest for the month and then I had to pay an extra 1,800 something dollars to get my title. I had been making double payments every month for about 8 months until I noticed I was being charged interest on the extra payment so half my payments was being eaten up by interest instead of the entire amount being put towards my principal only to be told that the only way I can apply my payment to my principal is if I make the payments on the same day so I lost approximately 2,000 of money to interest rather then it being put toward my principal to lower my principal. They never sent me a single statement with the new balance added onto it they never showed me what the fees were and how they got the amount. I highly recommend that if you can finance with another financial institution you do it. DO NOT FINANCE WITH SANTANDER CONSUMER USA they are the worst.

Easy to create my account. Tesla recommended you for my new car loan. I've never heard of you before- I'm impressed!

At first it was difficult to register because I kept getting a #404 error but once I found a different route it was great. It was easy to register and find my information. I was also able to set up payment method and explore the site. Very happy customer!!!

After first review about calling in and getting the poorest of indistinguishable English, finally getting a reply and a rep with proper English, I did receive some help for that I would go from 2 to 2.5 stars, but I can’t. Issue for me there is no option to simply email “ customer service”….. so if you’re hoping to get what they say confirmed in writing - it doesn’t happen. Yes, maybe internally they have a CRM type system but that still leaves the customer with nothing communicated in writing. Also, I wish I put this in my first review but with an at the time 860 credit score - you get stuck well over a 7% rate ?? Come on ……. I have many other future choices……. they’re not retaining this customer like that.

This has to be one of the worst banks I've ever had to deal with because I purchased a Tesla with .9% financing. They don't have an app online for you to use with auto loans and they do not allow you to set up auto pay with a higher dollar amount than the standard payment. Why would Tesla use a subprime lender for people with excellent credit that get the .9% financing? Stay far away from this bank as you won't get to an American representative and only people of India, who do not understand your questions most of the time. This bank is also known for canceling auto payments and hitting your credit and trying to repossess your car.
