I was a member of solidarity for about 4 years.
I finally left because I had paid doctor bills and even though they were approved to be paid ( and in the Q for 2 years) I was never reimbursed.
Now they say they don’t have to pay me because I am no longer a member
They are a horrible healthcare plan

Unethical bait-and-switch: Denying previously eligible claims after cancellation
Rating: 0/5 Stars
Solidarity Healthshare engages in deeply deceptive practices. My wife and I were active members in good standing and fully met our Annual Unshared Amount (AUA)—their equivalent of a deductible—when we incurred what should have been covered medical expenses.
Instead of fulfilling their obligations, Solidarity delayed paying these bills for so long that several were sent to debt collections, directly threatening our financial standing. Because of this administrative negligence and total lack of reliability, we canceled our membership and switched to a legitimate health insurance provider.
Now, Solidarity is denying those valid, pre-existing claims solely because we are no longer active members—even though we were active, paying members when the medical care was provided and our AUA had been met. Refusing to honor legitimate expenses incurred during an active membership period is an unethical bait-and-switch.
Take this as a clear warning to anyone considering Solidarity Healthshare: do not sign up with this organization. When you actually need them to cover medical expenses, you risk long delays, damage to your credit from collections, and arbitrary denials once you leave.
Because of these deceptive business practices, formal complaints are being filed with the following agencies:
Nevada Department of Insurance
Nevada Attorney General's Office
Nevada Consumer Affairs Department
Nevada Secretary of State
Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
Better Business Bureau (BBB)
We have also consulted with legal counsel specializing in deceptive business practices. Consumers deserve transparency and accountability, neither of which you will find here.

I have been a member of Solidarity for over 10 Years
I have been a member of Solidarity HealthShare for approximately 10 years, possibly longer. During that time, I paid my monthly contributions and submitted approximately $3,000–$4,000 in medical expenses that I paid out of pocket.
To date, I have received less than $1,000 back, and Solidarity still owes me $1,807 for a medical expense that was approved more than a year and a half ago.
I am now eligible for Medicare and, after researching my options, decided to move to traditional health insurance beginning November 1, 2026. I contacted Solidarity about six months ago to ask about my options, but there wasn't an acceptable option for my situation. The cost was more then I am paying now combined with medicare.
Last week, I contacted them about discontinuing my membership. I was then told that I would not receive the $1,807 that is still owed to me because I will no longer be a current member.
I honestly cannot believe this.
I paid my monthly contributions for years. This was an expense that was already submitted and approved, and it has been outstanding for more than a year and a half. I never expected that ending my membership would mean giving up money that had already been approved as owed to me.
I am sharing my experience because I would want to know this before deciding whether to join an organization like this. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Solidarity HealthShare to others. I believe people considering health-share programs should understand exactly what can happen when they leave the organization and still have money owed to them.
After more than 10 years as a member, I am extremely disappointed with how this has been handled.

Can I give negative stars?
Can I give negative stars? Like 100 negative stars? This organization calls themselves a Catholic ministry but they are quite the opposite. I'd go so far as to say evil. We've been members since 2018 and it has been a nightmare we can't get out of. We finally bailed on Solidarity for coverage but are STILL PAYING THEM so they will MAYBE pay our outstanding bills. So now we are paying to have two insurance plans...one that pays and Solidarity that doesn't pay. Solidarity has not paid a single bill in about 10 months and we have outstanding bills going back to 2023. What is really disturbing is that many of our bills are now in collections, including a couple of large bills for hospital stays two years ago. Our hospital is a non-profit community hospital in a small town. Since Solidarity didn't pay and was ok with the bill going to collections, our hospital will never see a penny of that money. Only the collections agency will get something. Maybe. If they ever decide to pay. Clearly this business is unethical. If they cared they would make some changes. I've heard/read the people running the company get paid very well. They should be paid based on their performance. When I owned a small business and we had a bad year, we didn't pay ourselves very much and when we had a good year we always shared with our employees. Idk where all the money is going but something isn't right here. Do not sign-up for this coverage. You will regret it.

Solidarity did not pay for my annual…
Solidarity did not pay for my annual physical. They told the hospital they would and never did (Documented by the hospital). The hospital came after me 11 months after the claim was given to Solidarity. I moved to Medicare 8 months after the claim. They told me since I am no longer in the program, I forfeit any coverage, even know the claim was 8 months before I left. The agent said they don't pay if they are short on money, which must be the case. No effort to resolve or discuss, no access to a supervisor, nothing, just a rude though luck. stay away, far away.

So disappointing
I am saddened by the poor quality of service provided by Solidarity HealthShare. I have been a member since 2018. My first few years were reasonably good, and quite good in certain ways. However, the Covid pandemic seemed to have introduced a large backlog for them, a back log from which they have never recovered. I find it fantastically tiresome to keep track of every claim they remains unpaid across the years, wondering what will happen. A more specific example, I recently required physical therapy for some issues that have crept up on me. My plan says that I should be able to receive 20 visits a year. I had to pay upfront for all of my physical therapy visits, which was quite expensive (exacerbated by the fact that I live in NJ where everything is more expensive, including health care). While some of the visits were processed. I find no progress on about half of them, which is particularly interesting as I have crossed the threshold for receiving reimbursement. Anyway, I do NOT recommend Solidarity. I really wanted to like them, but I find it extremely difficult. Don't sign up.

Unethical and Irresponsible
We had this health share for 6 years. They increased the monthly costs from $400 to $735 for 2 adults over that time. Seemed like a fair charge because they told us they were just like insurance, they would cover tests (blood tests, yearly mammograms, etc) as well as emergency care (which they did cover one emergency room visit). And they would negotiate bills just like insurance companies do. In fact, they emphasized how they ran just like an insurance company. We always had trouble getting charges covered and spent time each month trying to not have our medical and bloodwork bills going to collections, some were over 3 years old. They never covered any of my husband’s medicine (over $1000/month) even though they told him to submit the bills. Finally, after reaching 65, we left Solidarity and chose a Medicare program. Last week we received doctor’s bills that had not been paid from over 3 years ago! This was thousands of dollars. We called Solidarity and they said once you stop being part of their group, they no longer cover anything - even if they were responsible three years ago. And since they aren’t technically an insurance company, they can get away with taking your monthly payment and never paying you bills. Please find something else. We would have been further ahead banking that money each month. You will pay and never have bills covered. They are unethical.

I only give one star because there's no…
I only give one star because there's no less choice. RUN as far as you can before considering Solidarity Healthshare. They've left our children's wellness visits unpaid for years, not to mention the years it took them to pay for the birth of our daughter and now our son's broken arm. We end up paying bills before they are sent to claims and no refund ever comes. Prices have skyrocketed since we joined and they'll pause our membership if we are late on paying the monthly rate, but have no problem never paying any of our bills in return. I could not recommend this company less and I never write reviews.
