Hi Norcal parent,
We see that your child was admitted to the University of Washington as an out-of-state applicant and to Boston University through the Guaranteed Transfer Program, with the help of our coaching, essay and application guidance. As you know, your child had three “C grades” and one “D grade” on his high school transcript, all in academic core courses, including one “D” in English, two “C’s” in foreign language, and one “C” in biology. As we explained, these four C and D grades, in addition to the seven “B grades” in academic core courses on his transcript, are disqualifying at every top 20 college. Not even the child of an A-List Hollywood celebrity could gain admission to an Ivy League school with such a transcript, let alone an unhooked applicant like your son. Given that the average admitted student to Boston University and the University of Washington from out-of-state has a 3.9 GPA, these results were strong given your son’s transcript.
We positioned your child as Environmental Science and created a comprehensive coaching plan around this positioning for him, which he wrote about in his college essays. We also recommended that your son apply Early Decision to Boston University, a high reach school given his grades; he ignored our advice and applied Early Decision instead to Cornell, an Ivy that we said was not possible given his transcript. Your son was admitted to Boston University with our help through the Guaranteed Transfer Program, which means had he followed our advice and applied Early Decision to Boston University, he would have been admitted outright instead of having to transfer.
We're sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your son’s acceptances at two Top 50 colleges in Boston University and the University of Washington. We have reached out and left a voicemail to discuss if you need further support. Please email us at [email protected].
