About Take Command
Take Command is a SaaS platform that helps companies reimburse employees for health insurance. Offering seamless administration for Individual Coverage HRAs (ICHRAs) and Qualified Small Employer HRAs (QSEHRAs), Take Command was the first end to end ICHRA solution on the market, the first to bring a viable partnership model to brokerage firms, the only HRA administrator invited to the White House when ICHRA was announced, the only company to offer in-house, personalized enrollment support for employees, and a founder of the HRA Council. With clients in all 50 states and clients ranging from 3 to 3,000 employees, Take Command has helped more than 5,000 companies take command of their health benefits. Take Command is proud to be named a best place to work by Modern Healthcare, Builtin, and Dallas Business Journal, and has won countless awards in the startup and innovation sectors.
Take Command (takecommandhealth.com) has 357 customer reviews on Folks Told, with an average rating of 3.6 out of 5.
Run by bots. Almost impossible to get help with questions / issues from live agent. Problems not addressed. Employees hated it. Very difficult to cancel service. We are still getting billed more than a month after following their deliberately Byzantine cancellation process. Do yourself a BIG favor, don't use Take Command!

Customer Support Very Bad
Their sales reps are easy to work with unsurprisingly. Nothing else has been good after we signed up. If all we needed them to do was approve our expenses and issue us a report, they'd be fine. All the other stuff they promise to do-- they are not prepared to do competently.
As an admin, I will say they were particularly not good at resolving issues. Some of their staff are friendly and seem to care, some don't, but either way issues don't get resolved after multiple calls and I get contradictory/wrong info a lot, even on very basic things. This has resulted in our staff lacking health coverage for a period of a month.
If I were to do this again I would not choose them, obviously, but in particular I would tell staff not to enroll in plans via their platform.

N o one asked me about how payments we going to be made they did tell me I may not have insurance because I wasn’t making the cut off at 12 but someone would be on touch with me and they actual try to take the payment out of my personal account as of today the payment still hasn’t been drafted. So I don’t know what’s going on and my provider is saying the payment needs to be made.

Onboarding good, support terrible and non-responsive
Onboarding seemed good, with a very helpful rep who explained the options to me. What I didn't realize at the time is that Take Command don't actually distribute the reimbursements. Gusto partner with them, but the process for getting anything automated in payroll is so complex, if it's feasible at all, that I have resorted to manually adding reimburements each month for my employee. My biggest complaint is their non-responsive customer support. I have been asking them repeatedly for almost 2 months to adjust the amount I am reimbursing my employee. They keep saying they will make the change, but 2 months and many emails and chats later, there is still no change. It is very frustrating that I can't adjust it myself in the platform. I have to request that they change the amounts, and my emails seem to go into the void - either no replies at all, or promises to act but no changes made. [ETA: I later learned from other ICHRA providers that it is againt ICHRA rules to make changes to amounts mid-year, so I don't know what Take Command means by making changes anytime, as that is not permitted.] Their marketing says you can make changes anytime, but it's disingenuous to say that - as an employer I can't make changes myself, I have to write an email to suport and request them to make each change. This would be okay if their support team actually made the changes I ask for, but they have not done anything I have asked, and I have asked so many times!! I really feel helpless! I wish Gusto would partner with a different company for this service. I am looking for alternatives to Take Command, since I don't see any advantage of using them with Gusto anyway, as they are not exactly joined up. [Later edit: On talking with a couple of other providers when shopping around for a replacement, I learned some things about how ICHRAs work and what the rules say that Take Command had not explained to me, so unfortunately I am even less confident in them now.]

The small company I work for doesn't…
The small company I work for doesn't have enough employees for a traditional group insurance plan, so I shop for insurance via Take Command using a QSEHRA. I have had nothing but bad experiences trying to navigate the platform, find what insurance plans I've signed up for, navigating open enrollment, figuring out how to shop for dental plans, etc. It's a nightmare. I don't know if anything better is out there — I just know it's a headache anytime I have to log in.

First Time Using Take Command Health
This is our first time using Take Command and unfortunately we are not having a good enrollment process. Primarily b/c it is currently taking 3-5 days to get a return phone call and it is difficult to schedule an enrollment call (currently says no more are available for November).

Hey Kevin, sorry to hear you're having a rough time with enrollment. I'm having my team look into this and will circle back with a solution. Check back with the enrollment calendar; more available times have opened up. Thanks for your patience!

Working with Take Command is supremely frustrating. Noone answers the phone, ever and the Chat Bot feature never works correctly. It's almost impossible to reach someone when you need to.

The options to choose a health insurance plan are not on my dashboard.
I have been trying to get resolution to a problem since 10/2/2025 and still have not gotten any. I am supposed to start benefits on 11/1/2025 and haven't even been able to sign up yet because my dashboard is not correct. Everyone that I talk to says that my "ticket" is considered urgent but after I'm told that, I hear nothing from anybody. I spend more time on this than I do on my actual job which is not right! Additionally, I keep getting emails that I have not set up my account yet.....I have - a long time ago!!! It isn't showing the options for insurance plans for me to choose from and I can't do anything until my account is either wiped out or fixed. I'm more than frustrated!!! The only thing that has been good is that someone in this process gave me a website that I can look at to "window shop" while I'm waiting for my dashboard to be fixed.
