I really like this concept but execution is lacking
I really like this concept and purchased based on what was advertised but it wasn't entirely honest IMO. We were told we could get apps that are just tools through a vetting process that has been haulted for who knows how long (indefinitely?). I have tried to get an answer from their customer service but nobody seems to know. Why not just be transparent about why it's paused and what you're working on if anything? We're on your side, why leave us in the dark?
Anyway, the concept of having a smart phone with no browser, no socail media, etc.. but still having the needed tools like banking, and various others is a gem. Hopefully they can execute on that sometime soon.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for believing in the concept behind Wisephone.
We hear your frustration around the app vetting process and the lack of clear timelines. At this time, our support team has not been given a confirmed timeline, as this is an ongoing project that is actively being worked on by our product team. We understand that uncertainty can be frustrating, and we’re working to improve clarity as things progress.
As a gentle reminder, we also note on our product page and in the checkout consent process that Wisephone should not be purchased based on the expectation of specific third-party apps being available or approved, as app availability is part of an evolving and curated process.
That said, we truly appreciate your feedback. Improving the usefulness and accessibility of approved tools is something we take seriously, and your input helps guide that work.

ultimately didn't work for me
Customer support was really kind and as helpful as they could be. I worked with Zazi and Yolani and they were prompt with call backs. However, it took almost two months to properly set up my wise phone and I still was missing calls and texts from friends and family. Ultimately, I lost money and time by cancelling my other carrier and now have to set it back up. Maybe my situation was unique. Hoping they can work out the kinks cause it seems like a nice company.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Your patience throughout this process was not unnoticed, and I sincerely thank you for allowing our team time to work through each challenge. Zazi stayed with your case every step of the way and did everything possible to resolve it, even amid network issues that made the situation more complex than usual.
Although the outcome was not what either of us hoped for, we appreciate the chance you gave us to make things right. We remain committed to helping customers through even the most difficult technical issues. If you ever decide to revisit Techless, we are here and ready to support you.

Phone is Great, sign up process is broken and clunky.
Your portal will not accept my IMIE number and sign up is not user friendly

Thank you for sharing your feedback! Our team is ready to assist with the IMEI number issue—it should be a simple fix once you have a moment to respond to our team's reply. We’re also actively working to make the portal smoother and more user-friendly for onboarding. Your input is invaluable in helping us prioritize these improvements!

I absolutely love the concept
I absolutely love the concept and my three weeks with this phone was very refreshing, I spent maybe twenty minutes a day on it and was able to spend more time with my family and away from meaningless distractions. However, I had continuous problems with not receiving texts and calls. There were several times I would see someone in person and they would be frustrated with me because I hadn’t returned any of their texts or responded to their calls, only for me to explain that I had not received any of them. I reached out to tech support and they told me to use a different messing system. Which did allow for me to receive group texts again, but ultimately did not fix the issue. If they can fix this problem I would happily go back.

Thank you for sharing your honest experience with us. We know how frustrating it must have been to miss important calls and texts, especially when you’re trying to stay more connected in the ways that matter most. Reports of similar issues with messaging occasionally arise, particularly before switching to Google Messages with RCS enabled. In many cases, this is related to the network rather than the device itself—particularly if you recently switched from an iPhone and deregistered from iMessage. Sometimes, it just takes a little time for the network to catch up fully, and a network reset can also be helpful.
We’d love to walk you through a few more troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve this issue. Please don’t hesitate to reach back out to our support team—we’re here to help and want to ensure you have the smooth experience you were hoping for.

The worlds dum phone for the smartest of people
The phone is great. Not having social media and browsing apps makes a difference. Everyone in the world has that stuff, so knowing that you don't gives you a sense that you're different from everyone else. The one thing I don't like is the service. I fight fires, do some lumbering, and so I am in the wilderness for the most part, and the connection is terrible. Even with high-speed internet at home, it is still slow. Other than that, I think everyone should have one; it would change their lives.

That's a great title, Titan!💡👏 We’re so encouraged to hear how the simplicity and freedom from social media and browsing have made such a difference in your life.
We also really appreciate your honesty about the service experience. Being out in the wilderness as a firefighter and lumberman is no small thing—thank you for the important work you do. 🙏 Connectivity challenges can definitely come up in remote areas. While we provide the best service we can, every phone model has different hardware components that can affect coverage and performance in unique environments.
Your feedback is invaluable in helping us continue to improve. Thank you for sharing both your encouragement and your critique—we’re honored to be on this journey with you! 💙

Great idea, needs a little more love
The Good:
- Vision and mission - brilliant!
- Technical implementation - I've worked on custom Android builds myself, and i can see that there's a LOT of clever technical work going on under the hood here to make this all happen.
- I was skeptical of the decision to exclude email apps at first, but after using it for a few weeks, I see that it was the right call. Well done!
The Not-so-good:
- I was never able to get the Techless carrier plan working. SIM card was good, IMEI etc. were all configured correctly, good network signal, but no calls/text/data. Customer service was polite but ultimately unable to help. After two weeks without any working phone, I ported my number to a Google Fi SIM and was up and running in 5 minutes. This is aggravating because now I'm paying separately for the WiseOS subscription.
- Support from the biz side seems to be fading. Tool drawer (app store) submissions, which were already opaque, have now been paused, and there are bugs with the portal website login that still aren't quite fixed. And the WiseOS (homescreen) app has crashed and frozen a few times on me. All of this gives me anxiety about whether these guys are in it for the long haul, or are already chasing the next shiny object. Will I be stuck with an unsupported brick two years from now?
- The app switcher button is disabled. Maybe there's a good reason, but I can't think of one. Makes it hard to do things like auth flows.
- The phone is a little too big, I would prefer something maybe 30% smaller. Smaller screens are less attention-sucking, not to mention easier to operate with one hand, and they are easier to pocket.
In summary: I love the concept and technical implementation behind this phone, and I would happily recommend it to my friends. The only thing holding me back is my concern about long-term support.

Hi Justin,
Thank you so much for the thoughtful and well-articulated review. We truly appreciate your detailed insights and your support of our mission.
The Good:
Your recognition of the technical effort behind WiseOS means a lot—especially coming from someone with hands-on experience in custom Android builds. We're also glad the decision around email started to make more sense with time; it's always encouraging to hear that the design choices we agonize over end up delivering on their deeper intent. ✅
The Not-so-good:
You’re right to be frustrated about the trouble with your Wisephone SIM. Our goal is always for the setup to be seamless, and we clearly fell short in your case. Thank you for giving us two weeks to try to resolve it—it means a lot that you gave it that much room. Regarding Tool Drawer submissions, portal bugs, and long-term support concerns—we hear you loud and clear. We’re actively addressing internal processes and support systems to strengthen trust and transparency. As a small team with a big vision, we know communication is key, and we’re working hard to build better rhythms there.
The app switcher point is a great callout—there are design reasons behind that choice, but your use case is valid and we’ll be revisiting this kind of feedback in upcoming builds. As for phone size, totally fair. We’ve heard this from others too and are factoring it into future hardware conversations.
In summary:
Thanks for seeing the heart and hard work behind the product. Your encouragement and your caution are both deeply respected. We’d love to keep you in the loop as we grow—and hope we can earn back your full confidence in the journey ahead.
Warmly,
The Wisephone Team

Toolbox turnaround Disapoint
They need to provide a queue on when new apps will be reviewed. Not sure if the app I need will be ready in weeks, years or never.
I submitted an app to be included in the tool box, but it didn't allow me to. I contact customer service and they said someone already submitted that app to review. They couldn't provide a turn around time for when the app will reviewed.
At the end of the day Wisephone II decided to force the $14.99 subscription fee just to use the phone, which I find ridiculous. This wasn't part of the original plan. No other phone does this, this is after initial purchase of the phone and owning it not a lease fee or anything. Seems silly, but hey if I'm paying there should be a new product not one I already own right. Its like buying your tv, having a seperate cable provider and your tv is like hey just give us $15/month to turn it on?
If I'm paying for the app review to make a better product then let me know what I'm paying for is actually going somewhere. Where it is in the queue right?
A better system would be allowing multiple people to request the same app to show what apps have the most demand so they can get highest priority.
I have a lot of people interested in the phone but they need a certain app for work etc. Not knowing when the app will launch is a huge factor preventing these people from buy the app...and the continued fee for just using the phone you already bought...come'on.

Thank you for your thoughtful and honest feedback—it’s clear you care deeply about the potential of Wisephone, and we truly appreciate that.
Your example is spot on: when you buy a TV, you don't automatically get access to every streaming app—it still requires subscriptions. Similarly, the Wisephone II comes with a solid foundation of tools and baked-in security, so users don’t have to spend time trying to lock things down themselves. The $14.99 subscription isn’t about accessing individual apps—it's about supporting the intentional experience, curated environment, and the ongoing updates and safeguards we maintain.
That said, we absolutely hear your concern about the app review process. You’re right—our current system doesn’t give visibility into which apps are in review, or what the timeline might be. That needs to change, and it's on our list to explore improvements, including your great suggestion about letting users “upvote” apps they’d like to see. Transparency and demand-based prioritization are key areas we aim to build into the next version of our request process. (On our radar and list)
We also want to be upfront: Wisephone II isn’t meant to be an app-first phone. We don't recommend purchasing it if a specific app is a dealbreaker for work or daily life. But for those seeking a more intentional digital experience, it can be a great fit—and we're honored that you're spreading the word to others.
Thanks again for taking the time to share. Your feedback helps shape our path forward.

Thought it was was wonderful at first
Thought it was was wonderful at first. Have not been able to get help to access voicemail. They said send them numbers off the carton the phone came in, which I did, only got message to put in my zipcode and phone number which I did over and over, only got a recording that it was not correct. Repeated requests for help are ignored. Frustration level is high.
