Wall Street OasisReviews of wallstreetoasis.com

Great content, thoughtful organization of forums, and useful data. I definitely would have been lost during recruiting if I didn’t have this website. Only gripe I have is that the search bar doesn’t return very helpful and/or relevant results.

Wall Street Oasis is a go-to site for aspiring Wall Street types, just starting out on their career journeys to those looking to make a change, or as in my case, contributing to the community via mentoring. Check it out for engaging conversation, help on a resume, or making new connections.

WSO helped me tremendously when I was getting my start in finance. I began my journey as a disillusioned former pre-med student looking for another professional path - others had recommended I consider investment banking, but I had no idea where to even begin breaking in. The community at WSO provided helpful advice around prepping for interviews, how to build my recruiting strategy, and what to do after I finally did land that all-important internship. Fast forward to the present day, almost a decade later, and I am wrapping up my second year at a top MBA program, headed to an excellent investment firm in NY to begin the next phase of my career when I graduate. My only complaint about WSO is that it increasingly seems to attract a large number of very opinionated high school and college students who confidently spread misinformation about the industry and clutter the off-topic forums with barely concealed white nationalist / angry incel discussions. These people diminish the quality of the entire community. In contrast, mid-career and senior professionals who could actually provide value-added advice have become less visible in recent years. I feel that WSO's usefulness to me has declined sharply for that reason - I would not feel comfortable associating my real name with much of what happens on the site nowadays.

The site is highly informative for those looking to learn more about the various roles within high finance. Would be fantastic if they could add a Private Credit job role already—they have so many which have close to zero users, yet this large and growing asset class is ignored. I also think the search function could be improved, as finding certain threads can be challenging at times.

This is a great platform for one’s own personal and professional development. I like that I can come to this forum and ask questions I would not ask my colleagues regarding my career and important life decisions. Advice is always helpful and there are always funny responses.

It is an interesting site but it hasn't really added too much to my day to day life. I'm not sure what could really be done to improve it though. I'd still recommend.

WSO has been a great forum. I am an active of the Business School sub-section. Being a fellow future MBA student - I am able to assist other students, as well as connect/have my own question answered. The site is 4 stars because while it could be "great" - there need to be active moderators that could keep out spammers/trolls. Not many, but there tend to be some here and there.

Although I don't regularly use the forum anymore, I did enjoy the content and found various threads helpful. There are a ton of great posts about how Wall Street really works and what it takes to be successful there. I really like the ranking system used for quality of content - so that venting/weak posts don't get much more attention than they deserve. Platform has a clean look, and is generally helpful when searching content. In terms of feedback, I'd suggest the following: 1) Add Sub-boards within IB, HF, PE, etc. based on topics being discussed 2) I'm against censoring folks - I'm also not ok with some of the anti-religious/discriminatory comments made towards certain religions on there. Either allow no-holds barred commentary on all religions, or none of it with moderators.
