Bad insurance carrier
Do not get insurance thru AARP the Hartford, they do not give 55 and older discounts, rates are super high and they scam ppl for their money. I took my cars off it soon as they try to double charge me. The APP is horrible

This is let you know that the AARP the Hartford insurance does not like to be dropped. After making a simple request to have my insurance bundled and was told this could not be done. The conversation turned personal and condescending. After being a Hartford customer for years, I would never recommend The Hartfor to anyone.

I paid $55 in 2025 to get membership for 5 years. I got renewal /expiry notice recently. On inquiry AARP told that the membership is for only 1 year! In spite of repeated requests and follow ups the customer care representatives gave evasive answers and did not fullfill their commitment. AARP is advocate for public fraud and they themselves are cheating their customers!!! Think twice before paying money for 5 years membership!

The AARP NYLife customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. I was hung up on twice trying to speak to a representative from the claims department. I think they do it on purpose. Nothing is simple with these people and I don’t have all day to be calling back they need to keep us on the line and do their job.

87% negative reviews. I have to agree. They sell airline tickets through Expedia and Expedia only cares that you are over 18. Tried to use purported restaurant discounts a couple of times but found too many restrictions to even make it worth mentioning. And no! Not 87% of reviews are by old people wanting to complain. Not even the Guardian can find 87% of people willing to complain about Trump.

Their programs to help seniors with insurance savings is junk. Hartford Insurance who they claim to be so good would not even insure our home due to a small claim on an older home we owned. Small claim we had with prior company and now they won’t cover our new home. Horrible service

Do better, AARP! We constantly receive renewal notices although I mark down how long our "membership" is good for, and you cannot fool us! You consistently send us renewal notices for a 'discounted rate' if we sign up for 5 years. However, we signed up for an additional five years earlier this year and you STILL send us notices to renew (we do understand one may pass in the mail, but come on!). We believe you do this to take advantage of older people who are not as tech savvy and may not check to see when their memberships end. ADDITIONALLY, we received CARDBOARD cards that only say that we've been a "member since" (xx date). They no longer are plastic NOR do they say when our membership is good through. So, we've started marking it down for our own information since we can NOT trust you to do the right thing and only send us a renewal notice in another 4.5 years.

This company takes advantage of customers. I have a homeowners and auto policy. What they disclose to you when selling you the policy differs from what you receive. I am very disappointed that this company advertises they assist senior citizens when they do not. I am searching for a new company to insure my home and auto. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
