About EGO
EGO Power+ is the next generation of cordless outdoor power tools. Patented battery technology delivers gas power and performance plus longer run times.
EGO (egopowerplus.com) has 744 customer reviews on Folks Told, with an average rating of 1.4 out of 5.
EGO 2.5 amp battery failed on blower. Bought a replacement 2.5 amp with fuel gauge which is underpowered for the blower. Cuts out after 5 seconds. Had to replace it with a 2.5 battery without fuel gauge to do the job. Apparently this the last battery of its kind in Australia. So there will be plenty more customers frustrated with the only available 2.5 amp battery with fuel gauge. Be warned.

I'd give 0 stars if I could
Defective product AND awful, awful support. First time I used my Ego mower, the engine cut out 15 minutes into mowing and the LED on the handle alternately flashed red and green. Five and a half weeks later, I still didn't have a functioning lawnmower.
It took 4 calls just to learn that I had to take it to Lowe's to get service, which was a surprise to Lowe's, but they managed it. Two weeks later, I got it back (with the LED decal missing from the handle). It worked for 3 minutes before exhibiting the same exact problem.
This time, Ego said they would replace it. But they couldn't tell me when I'd receive a replacement. And I was advised not to call and ask about it later because they wouldn't know.
All in all, I had 9 phone calls with Ego. Every time, I had to start my story from the beginning — they either don't have a customer issue tracking system or they don't use it. Every time I called, whether an agent or a supervisor, I was met with utter indifference. I've never had such lousy service so consistently. It's like they've been trained to not care.
After I requested help from them on Facebook and we set up a day for a call, they stood me up. No contact, no follow up. I called and asked for a supervisor. This was phone call number 8 with them. I had to repeat the entire story just to get put into the escalation queue so a supervisor could call me back...some time later.
At this point, we turned to Lowe's for help. We bought the mower from them in April and despite the fact that in late June, we're well past the 30 day return policy, they refunded our money. The folks at Lowe's were amazing, especially Nathaniel and Chres. The polar opposite of Ego. They get that this should have been a 2-step process (buy lawnmower, use lawnmower), not a never-ending saga.
Usually with an experience this bad, you can get someone who actually understands customer service. They know that their job isn't merely to meet their minimal obligation (supply a working product), but to make things right because the customer, working in good faith, has spent way too much on an issue the company created. Not to mention the additional hassle of things like borrowing a lawnmower every week (my neighbor's Ryobi mower worked like a charm, btw).
But not with Ego. When that supervisor did call me back, almost a full day later, I explained that Lowe's had refunded our money. The response? "Ok, sounds like it's been resolved then." No apology, no "how can we make this right for you?" Nothing. Ego simply doesn't care. It was clear in every interaction I had with them. Their mowers may be great when they work (I wouldn't know), but they are terrible company to deal with.

great tools, awful support
Ego makes great tools but customer service and support is terrible. I bought a mower 5 years ago and it developed an electrical problem after 3 years (of light use). The main battery died also and was out of warranty but I had extras. Customer phone support kept me waiting so long for so many times I suffered with a sort of working mower for 2 more years, finally broke down and got a warranty repair order after much suffering. The repair place was an hour drive each way. Now 2 months later, parts back ordered, fixed the wrong thing and had to order more parts. They should have simply replaced the mower as I requested but they did not. I still don’t have any mower back and ended up repairing my old gas one. There are other electric tool options now - suggest avoiding this company.

EGO edger Model ST1500SF does not have…
EGO edger Model ST1500SF does not have the power to cut grass much less weeds. Large battery lasted 15 minutes. Very disappointed. Most expensive cordless edger available. It is useless to me and will stay in my garage. Had to buy a corded edger to get the job done.

Very lengthy warranty service, damaging for business
No stars for their warranty service! Although I bought ego products from their authorised dealer Sydney Tools, it's been 7 weeks I haven't heard from them about my charger that was on warranty!
By the time I called them 3 times. No satisfactory answers!!

NO STARS
NO STARS. I have 2 string trimmers, one runs through a whole spool of line in 3-5 minutes and the other has an auto line feed that doesn’t feed. After calling multi times with lots of on hold phone time I was finally directed by Dominique to drop them off at at local Ewing irrigation supply house. They would be repaired in “2 weeks”. By 3 weeks having heard nothing I spoke to Ewing who is still awaiting paperwork to from Ego to send them on to someone for repair. So, I calledEgo again Arsenio told me I should not have dropped them off there because they aren’t a “preferred dealer”. Even though they directed me there and can’t offer any other warranty drop off within 100 miles. After much complaining and haranguing on my part I got to talk with an escalation supervisor Phoenix who said she’d get the Dealer Support Team right on my case and someone would call me. Ten days later and it’s radio silence. After another prolonged on hold call I spoke to Kemi. Kemi can’t get hold of the Dealer Support Team just now or apparently access any case files or notes but she did offer my 5th case number for handy future reference and promise to email or call soon.
I’m not a person who write reviews or reads them very often ( obviously a mistake here) but after I saw that about 90% of their reviews are less than stellar I decided to contribute. Next stop the Dept of Consumer Affairs and Attorney General’s office. Despite all the complaints about high taxes and big gov’t in California they are responsive to consumer abuse.

Ego website to register warranty doesn't work
I would not buy an Ego again. If you are considering buying one, I would say, think again and probably don't buy.
We have just bought a new Ego battery mower. The battery charger was faulty from the very first attempt to use it. Retailer exchanged it. Retailer insisted problems with Ego are very rare .....
The mower presently works fine. Does a good job.
We cannot register for an extended warranty from 1 year to 3 years because the website doesn't work. We have tried many times. The company doesn't reply to emails or pick up the phone.
Avoid.
