GEDmatch is a free DNA comparison and analysis website for people who have tested their autosomal DNA using a direct-to-consumer genetic testing company, such as 23andMe, or have a custom file from other sources. Testers download their DNA data file from the testing company, and then upload it to GEDmatch. GEDmatch processes the file, adds it to a genealogical database, and provides applications for matching and further analysis. Because GEDmatch aggregates files from all testing companies, your potential for matches is greater.

Gedmatch is one of the most reliable genealogy references. It has a lot of information available and some trick tools that can be used by subscription. I have solved numerous family mysteries from information on Gedmatch. It works and the genetic information is solid.

A fundamental tool for genetic genealogy, although not for laymen, it helps a lot to find relatives and cross informations for common matches.

Making connections with other family trees and DNA projects, GEDmatch.com has helped me get closer to finding family matches that give me more insight to my 2nd great-grandfather's parents, siblings, areas where they lived and moved from before family coming to America. Wish GEDmatch.com would be able to somehow advertise a link on each of the DNA vendors out there to further educate the public as a whole about their mission to have as many folks as possible download their raw DNA, join GEDmatch.com and become a worldwide site of bringing families together from their homeland back in history.

Excellent site, especially because it shows the matches on the chromosomes.
