"Trial" is not actually what you get

I was so disappointed. They advertise the latest and greatest, with a "free trial". Those words are important. I contacted them, paid a deposit, they sent me the kit, I made an appointment, and did a tele-visit with the audiologist. When it was all over, I was informed I had to pay the entire amount right then. What about the "free trial"? Had they been honest and said they had a "money back" guarantee, I would not have been blindsided. I had planned to take money out of savings to pay, and so was not prepared to pay the entire amount right then, as I took them at their word when they said they offered a "free trial". Providing a credit card number for them to NOT charge until after the "free trial" would have been acceptable. I was caught off guard and allowed them to submit a credit application. They then called me repeatedly during the day because I had not signed something. The high pressure kept me from thinking as clearly as I should have been. The application put a hard pull on my credit, which will remain for two years, and which negatively impacts my credit score. Now to the hearing aids. I went to my audiologist and she checked them. She said they were the low level (3) of that particular aid, and she could get higher levels. The next highest level (5, I believe) would have cost me about the same as I was charged for my "free trial" aids. And there would have been NO hard pull on my credit. I sent them back and was refunded by the credit company. I did not receive my deposit back to my knowledge. The hearing aids were okay. But I did not like the quality of sound. I felt as though I had my head in a bucket. It was tinny, and I could not get used to it. I have worn hearing aids for almost ten years, so I know what to expect. I learned my lesson. I will stick with local providers who tell me up front exactly what they will provide. Response: Thank you for your response. I used the wrong term; thank you for correcting me. However, a "trial" is a period to try out a product before purchasing. ******* From the Cambridge Dictionary: product trial noun [ C ] COMMERCE, MARKETING UK US a way of persuading customers to buy a product by allowing them to use it for a limited time without paying: ******* Standard Operating Procedure is that a trial/initial payment is made. Presumably my deposit was the trial/initial payment. That turned out not to be the case. What I was actually presented with was a purchase with a money-back guarantee. There is nothing wrong with this, as long as it is clear that there is no "trial", rather a purchase with a money-back guarantee. Total Gym is an excellent example of this practice. They offer a "risk-free trial" with only an initial payment charged to your card. It is very clear what their policy is. I do appreciate that everyone I had contact with was polite and professional. You do have great people. Thank you again for your response. I hope you will review the dictionary definition of a product trial, and adjust your literature so that potential customers will know what they are actually being offered.

It's so helpful to be able to select…
It's so helpful to be able to select specific programs for individual situations. I'm especially happy to be able to hear in noisy environments like restaurants.

Paid over $3500 for these so called…Response.
Paid over $3500 for these so called state of art hearing aids only to find out they do not have gps tracking. Good luck if one falls out of your ear and you can't find it. Very Very disappointed. Did you know you can't find insurance for these. Like you can on smart phones, glasses, computers, etc. Talked to customer service and got the standard squeaky accent voice that cannot be understood. All they know how to say is "Sir I am sorry" drives me nuts.10/21/24

Happy with my new hearing aids
Happy with my new hearing aids. I like being able to control some aspects with my iPhone. Good support during the 45 day trial period. I have not had a matched set of aids before and am appreciating the experience.

Great consumer-friendly business model
The business model utilizing telephone and email in combination with local providers is very consumer-friendly and helpful. Unlike the vast majority of hearing aid providers, Hear.com is not restricted to a single hearing aid line.

So helpful!
Everyone, I mean everyone, was helpful. They must keep notes about every call and they refer to them to help and build on knowledge. They were always patient to explain, and then call back to make sure all was well. They sent links so I could view how to care for the new aids and learn to use the app.
