Persistent SPL-120 Subwoofer & Amp Failures – Poor Long-Term Reliability
I am writing this review to warn potential buyers about the long-term reliability and build quality of the Klipsch SPL-120 subwoofer, as well as the support resolution process. My original SPL-120 failed completely. When I reached out to customer support, they sent a refurbished replacement unit. Unfortunately, that replacement failed in less than a year. Rather than replacing the unit or addressing what seems to be a recurring reliability issue, customer service sent me a loose replacement amplifier module and expected me to perform the repair/swap myself. For a subwoofer at this price point from a recognized brand, failing twice in short succession—followed by a DIY hardware repair mandate—is completely unacceptable. The sound output is good when it works, but the plate amplifiers and internal components simply do not hold up over time. If you are looking for a reliable setup without recurring downtime and self-repair hassles, I strongly suggest looking at other brands before purchasing this model.
