Worst customer service ever
Worst customer service ever. I will never buy from them again. I ordered glasses and when they came, one of the ear pieces was loose where it connected, causing them to sit unevenly. It wasn't something tightening a screw could fix. I let them know and they said send them back and as soon as they are in the mail, we'll start working on your new ones so you don't have to wait too long for the new ones. Only, after I let them know I shipped them, they did not start working on the new ones and about a week later I got a message saying they had received my glasses and determined there was nothing wrong with them so they wouldn't be replacing them. They said they could send them back or give me a refund. I didn't want defective glasses so I chose a refund. So they were willing to refund the money but not keep the money and give me new glasses. Makes no sense. So instead of just having good customer service and getting me working glasses, they lost a potential repeat customer who will now tell everyone to never use them. Some companies just don't get customer service and this is one of them. It's a shame because I really did want the glasses if they were done right.

Charlie, we're sorry this experience became so frustrating. You were initially told that a replacement pair would be started once your glasses were returned, and we understand why you expected that to happen. When our team inspected the glasses, however, we determined that the movement you experienced was characteristic of that frame's hinge design rather than an issue a remake of the same frame would correct. Rather than send you another pair with the same concern, we offered a full refund so you could choose a different frame that may be a better fit for you. We recognize that this wasn't explained clearly enough from the beginning, and we're sorry for the frustration that caused.

I wanted to like Payne...
I wanted to like Payne. I loved the frames, and their virtual try-on, filters and lens explanations made ordering online easy.
Unfortunately, the glasses did not work for me. I reported the problem on February 21, within days of receiving them. Payne did not respond until March 5, after I eventually had to reach out through Facebook to get attention.
What followed was a lengthy troubleshooting process involving multiple emails, photos, my prescription, measurements, additional photos and repeated follow-up. Payne initially told me they were gathering this information so they could “remake a pair that works for you.”
I cooperated with the process, but there were a lot of steps just to get to a remake. There was eventually a delay on my end due to personal circumstances, but at no point was I clearly told that the remaining troubleshooting had to be completed by a specific date or I would lose the remake.
Months later, after completing the requested measurements, I was told the 30-day remake period had expired. Payne acknowledges that I originally reported the problem well within that period, but says the troubleshooting also had to be completed within its deadline.
After all of that, their conclusion was that I should have my eye prescription rechecked rather than remake the glasses. I even offered a simpler resolution: I would confirm my prescription and accept basic single-vision distance lenses rather than another pair of progressives. They declined.
I understand warranty deadlines, but this was not a customer coming back months later with a new complaint. I reported the problem almost immediately and then spent months trying to navigate Payne's troubleshooting process.
I'm out approximately $100 and still don't have usable glasses. I loved the frames, but the amount of effort required to troubleshoot an online glasses order, the response delays, and the ultimate lack of resolution make it unlikely I'd order prescription glasses from Payne again.

We’re sorry this process ultimately didn’t lead to the resolution you were hoping for. We recognize that you first reached out within the warranty period and that personal circumstances later interrupted the troubleshooting process. Unfortunately, warranty coverage does have time limits, and by the time we were able to resume and complete the review, that coverage had expired. We understand how disappointing that outcome was after the time you invested in the process, and we’re sorry we weren’t able to find a path forward together.

Great price
Great selection and price for progressives!

Having plenty of progressive options without the traditional progressive price tag is exactly the kind of value we want to deliver. Thanks for the kind words!

Fast delivery on three pairs
Fast delivery on three pairs. Supposed to be transitions lens. Only one pair responded and turned dark under uv.
Have ordered from Payne for six years or longer.
I ordered my friend a pair and she said it was the first pair she'd ever had that worked with her computer work.

We’re glad the three pairs arrived quickly! One thing to keep in mind with photochromic lenses is that they’re designed to reach around a Level 3 tint in direct sunlight, rather than the Level 4 darkness of a traditional sunglass. They’re activated by UV light, so they will not darken inside the car because the windshield blocks the UV needed to activate them. Cloud cover and other outdoor conditions can also affect how dark they become, and the lenses need a few minutes to fully darken and gradually return to clear once you move indoors. If you’ve tested the lenses outdoors in direct sunlight and still feel two of the pairs aren’t performing as expected, please reach out to us at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to take a closer look. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Game Changer!
Game Changer!
I’m officially a fan of ordering glasses online! I’m new to it, so I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect, but Payne Glasses absolutely impressed me.
I ordered two pairs of progressive glasses for $136 total, including the frames, progressive lenses, and delivery. I chose free shipping, so they took about 1½ weeks to arrive, which I thought was completely reasonable.
The quality so far is honestly impressive. All I needed was a current prescription from my optometrist, and that was it. To put the price into perspective, I spent around $550 WITH insurance last year for essentially the same thing.
And compared with that experience, Payne Glasses absolutely blows Warby Parker out of the water for me.
I was also a little nervous about ordering prescription glasses online, but their free return/warranty policy gave me plenty of peace of mind. They also offer an additional $9.95 option per order/pair if you want even more coverage.
For the price, quality, selection, and overall experience, these have been a game changer for me. I’m definitely impressed and will be ordering from Payne again.
Highly recommend!

Taking the leap and ordering prescription glasses online for the first time can feel like a big decision, so hearing that the experience exceeded your expectations means a lot. Two pairs of progressives and a new convert to online eyewear—we’ll gladly call that a game changer! Thank you for such a thoughtful review and recommendation.
