Pipe Works Services, Inc. (pipeworksservices.com) has 382 customer reviews on Folks Told, with an average rating of 4.6 out of 5.
This company is nothing but a bunch of grifters. Our garage drain was backing up so we contacted them to check it out. We were told It would cost $59 for them to look at it, which was fine. We were told it would be $500 to snake the drain, which I agreed to. The contractor got the snake out of the van but didn't use it because he said the drain wasn't connected to any pipe (which I find suspect, and will get a second opinion). He then told me I owed him $415.84 for getting the snake machine out of the van. He did nothing to alleviate the problem, and I was out $415.84, rather than the quoted $59. Do not use this company, go elsewhere if you don't want to get ripped off.

Do not use
Do not use. They jack up prices depending on town you live and size of house. They charged me $336 to snake my toilet. Second time this happened. Told me I needed a new toilet bowl and install $1200. I got a second opinion and they fixed it for $70. Crooks.

Theses guys are thieves
Theses guys are thieves. They installed my AC less the. 10 yrs ago. The thing is leaking coolant. Paid pipeworks for 6 lbs @ $200 per last summer. Called them this week when my AC died, figuring it was losing coolant again. They said the furnace blower motor had seized. Tried to convince me to buy new furnace and AC. Told them "no thanks" so they quoted me $900 just for the motor (installed). Quick search of internet revealed parts cost less than $200. YouTube video showed how to replace motor and capacitor. Estimated labor 1 hour. Turned out my furnace was covered under a service plan with gas company. Took their tech exactly 1 hour to fix. So, in summary, if you want your AC installed improperly so that it leaks expensive coolant, and you want to be ripped off for repair work, by all means use these guys - otherwise stay clear of them.

Hey Larry, I want to thank you for speaking with me on Friday about these matters. I thought we had a productive discussion about your whole HVAC system and how your furnace is much older than the A/C unit we replaced almost 10 years ago. Now almost 8-9 years later being last year you had the refrigerant leak in which we added 6lbs. That's quite a lot and due to the fact that both your furnace and A/C were not replaced at the same time and lack of maintenance that you yourself stated, explains the reasoning that you are having some problems. As for fixing the blower motor, this is not a simple youtube video repair and requires a lot of experience, knowledge and care. We have technicians that have trained for years that do this type of work, and we charge for expertise, quality of work, professionalism and overall service experience. We are glad to hear however, that your PSEG service plans took care of your needs, but for you to say that we are thieves and rip off's is downright wrong and 100% inaccurate. We value each an every customer, their environment whether it be their home or workplace, and their needs. Hopefully we can continue to rectify this situation moving forward!

Pipeworks is way over priced
Pipeworks is way over priced! Latest example, tech agreed that we needed a new thermostat and offered to sell us one off his truck for $500. And it wasn't even a wifi enabled thermostat. Nest thermostats go for $240 as a comparison. Earlier in the year they gave us an estimate of $2100 to install thermostats on three radiators and the quote was one line so we could not see if they were passing on the 15% discount we are suppose to get as an annual maintenance customer. Final comment, we scheduled the free A/C checkup a month out and on the day of the appointment they couldn't make it...felt like annual maintenance customer go to the bottom of the list. We will not renew the annual contract...it was a waste of money.

Hey Doug, it was good speaking with you about your recent service experience with our company and felt we made a lot of progress moving forward. I really don't know enough information to help you with your $2100 estimate earlier in the year but we talked about how we can definitely work on your pricing requests. As for making a PSA free A/C check up appointment a month in advance, when I explained we have lots of customers call in March, April, and May, so June July and August gets a little backed-up you were in complete agreement about that so I want to thank you. We are working on that issue as we speak, and we will make sure you see membership savings on any repair work or estimates moving forward. I hope we can speak again to clarify anything else and we do not want to lose you as an annual contract customer.

Price Gouging
We had a water heater that was leaking and since my regular plumber was unavailable, I called Pipe Works and described the leak. They were responsive and had Bob come to our house in about an hour. He appeared to be a nice young man and he informed me that the water heater had to be replaced and the only thing that could be done to prevent further water leakage from the tank was to remove and replace the unit which he could do promptly. I asked if there was anything else that could be done to stop the 50 gallons or so of water form leaking out into my house and he said no. I asked him for a quote on a replacement water heater. After seeing the quote my husband told Bob to just drain out the water heater and that we needed to think through what we wanted to do. Bob complied and drained the heater only after my husband directed him to do so. Fortunately we have 2 water heaters and could wait a day or so for our regular plumber to give us a quote, which ended up being less than half of what was quoted by Pipe Works. Not only did Bob not want to suggest an option for stopping the leak but was eager to gouge us on the replacement! Totally unethical behavior! My regular plumber came and we got 2 water heaters replaced for much less than the price of 1 from Pipe Works!

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED
Today I will have to make my 3rd phone call in 3 days for a problem with my water heater that is just not getting fixed. The technician clearly did not know what he was doing because the problem keeps reoccurring. First he blamed it on "the wind" and I was charged $261 for him to just re-light the pilot light. Day 2 (which I was not charged for) he again re-lit the pilot light(which had once again gone out ) but did not fix any underlying cause. Now I have to call again a third time, habing to take time off from work 3 days in a row

Sold one thing - delivered another
The reason why I first reached out to PipeWorks was because the 50 gallon water heater wasn't nearly enough for our family of 5. We were constantly getting freezing cold water when bathing our daughters, and having them shower at the same time was impossible.
Their team came and gave us a proposal to replace it with an electric water heater, which was the solution we had considered as well.
We were very clear with the requirements: we wanted to be able to have at least 3 shower heads running at once and possible an appliance (dishwasher or washing machine). They suggested the model they thought was best for us, promising it would support 4 shower heads running simultaneously.
That has yet to happen. We can't bathe/ shower our daughters at the same time because the water turns freezing cold a few minutes into it. And we can't even take a full bath, if I try to fill up the tub, the water will turn cold after a few minutes of hot water running.
Since we spent the summer in Spain, and life had been extremely busy, I hadn't had the chance to reach out to them. I did so this month, whether the unit they installed may be defective.
They sent a technician and after running our water for almost an hour, he concluded that the water heater cannot support 2 showers running simultaneously at the temperature they had set up 115, so he lowered it. He said that way, I could definitely use 2 shower heads at once.
THAT'S NOT WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR WHEN WE HIRED THEM, AND ITS DEINITELY NOT A SOLUTION FOR US.
The technician said he'll let his supervisor know about our situation and discontent and I haven't heard back from anyone since. You'd think you would hear back from a company that you paid $7,000 to.
Today I tried taking a bath myself and less than 10 minutes into it, the water coming out was freezing again! It was just one bath being used, and still the water heater couldn't keep up. This is definitely NOT normal. If we were ok with this, we would've never change the tank! Why would we? We are running into the same problems we had.
We feel scammed into buying a very expensive equipment, that doesn't do what we were promised it would; and now, the company doesn't care about our satisfaction.
