They cancelled my account for no reason after years of use. I renewed my membership, and posted a job ad for a sitter. The next day my account was cancelled. The funny part is the ad was written by their AI tools. So they probably banned me for their own mistakes. Customer support was absolutely useless. 0/5 stars There are far better sites out there for finding sitters, I'm glad they closed my account because I found far better options.

The Sittercity site advertises security with the ability of families to run background checks and driving record checks on potential sitters. However, this is a scam. Sittercity fails to openly advertise the fact that the record check results aren't provided to families. Sittercity wants families to ask potential sitters for the results, with the assumption they are willingly going to provide them, unaltered. I paid for two people to have these checks, only to realize I have to ask them for the results. One person never provided them and the other hasn't responded yet. This means someone can have a very poor driving record and families would never know. Same with a criminal record or sex offender record. Sittercity doesn't provide any security.

Carletta - I apologize for the experience and if you have felt mislead. Upon background check purchase, this information is presented to you up front before you purchase a check: "What to expect after you purchase: -Results are communicated through badges on a sitter's profile. -When completed, the sitter will receive badge results and a copy of the report. -Families can request a copy of the report directly from the sitter." This is also posted in our help center, and Trust & Safety Center. If a sitter has ANY records show up on their background check, they WILL NOT receive a badge. A sitter enters in their information (name, date of birth, address, social) and our background check vendor Checkr runs this information. If a sitter enters in false information into their background check, Checkr immediately notifies us. It is not possible for a sitter to enter incorrect data. (wrong birthday, wrong social) and receive a badge. If there were severe violations on a driving record, the sitter is removed from the site. If their are records on their Basic or Enhanced check, they either do NOT receive a badge, or are REMOVED from the site and not eligible to be a sitter. We have a dedicated Trust & Safety team who review ALL activity and do perform sex offender monitoring for every user on the site. I only wanted this for one month, but they put it on autopay. I didn't catch it on my statement and they say they won't refund me for the extra charges even though I never used their service.

The site it terrible, you can't just view sitters, and they expect you to pay a subscription just to message anyone. Which makes it feel gross, like a bad dating service.

Hi Greg, We apologize for the experience you had. You can actually view sitters without having to upgrade right away, and also post a job to get a good feel for if anyone is available near you. You are able to cancel your subscription at any time in your own account settings, or by reaching out to our Customer Success team. If you don't want to pay for a subscription, we understand. Sittercity or other platforms like us might not be the best fit for you. Let us know if you need anything else.

It used to be a good service, and I actually did get a job through using it. But then for no reason, at all, they discontinued my account and profile and blocked me from using their service at all, without any explanation or anything! Was so frustrating. I emailed sevaral times , asking for an explanation, and for them to please reactivate my account, but they didnt and won't. Very rude company now. Don't recommend them.

Trust and safety is extremely important to us here at Sittercity. Sitters are removed from our platform for one of three reasons: -They are found to be under 18 years old. -They failed an identity verification or background check. -They are no longer eligible to be on our site based on our Terms of Use. If the first two reasons do not pertain to you, then I recommend reading over the terms of use.

Not enough nanny's on the platform. You can't find that out until you pay. I'd stay away.

Hi Russell, We do show how many caregivers are located near your zip code before you register. You are also able to search for any caregiver close to you without upgrading at all. I apologize if you weren't able to find a caregiver near you. Our network is made up of real people who create their own profiles. My profile was blocked with no clear explanation. I never even worked for one of their clients. They apparently take your money then block your profile. I would not trust or use them as a child care provider in my opinion.

Was charged for a premium membership. Haven't logged in since 2023. Did not recieve any communication notifying me of an upcoming ($180) payment. Please be transparent and remind users of a scheduled charge of this nature. No reimbursement is possible. Not a good look.

Hi Elissa - All subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. We do send renewal reminders as mandated by law in the states that require it. Our auto-renewing membership policy is stated on both checkout pages, on your receipt, and in our Terms of Use. Users can manage their subscription and turn off the renewal of their membership at any time.
