Valvoline Instant Oil Change (vioc.com) has 369 customer reviews on Folks Told, with an average rating of 1.8 out of 5.
I purchased service from Valvoline Instant Oil Change at 409 SE Main Street, Simpsonville, South Carolina.
Valvoline advertises an 18-point maintenance check, including inspection of the engine air filter, with every full-service oil change. I requested that my air filter be checked, but the employees refused to perform the inspection.
I believe the business failed to provide an advertised component of the service for which I paid. I requested resolution of the dispute at the business and ultimately left when police advised me to leave.
The worst consumer experience of my 80 years. Never could figure out who was really in charge at Valvoline. Police were very polite, professional and respectful. I later went to police station and spoke with the shift supervisor, explained the facts and complimented the officers.
The employee at Valvoline that refused service speaks volumes.
Having read numerous reviews, i think it’s time for a class action suit with some teeth in the settlement. The 70+% negative reviews are deafening, Great oil, questionable corporate leadership, questionable training and attention to detail. Unacceptable…

320 Montvale Ave., Woburn, MA: Caution, cheaters!
Location: 320 Montvale Ave., Woburn, MA,
Be careful with these people. Don't agree to change your windshield wipers (that you can do yourself easily). They will charge you $34.99 for EVERY VIPER, from driver, passenger, and rear side. In order you couldn't see your receipt, they will tell you that they can't print, but will send it to your e-mail. You will check your e-mail later and that is how you discover the cheat. Liars and cheaters.

$300 in damages and they don't take…
$300 in damages and they don't take responsibility for their work. They cross threaded my oil filter and damaged the threaded spindle. Blew oil all over the car. Didn't offer to pay for a wash and customer care says it's not their problem (local franchise manager's call). Now every time I get an oil change they can't get the filter to seal. They won't pay for repair of the damaged oil filter spindle because they didn't write shop notes when it happened (covered up the issue).

Two Oil Changes, Two Skid Plate Failures
I paid Valvoline to perform a professional oil change on my 2013 Ford Fusion on June 11 at its store at 603 West Fairmont Parkway. The fiber underbody splash shield (which Valvoline calls the "skid plate") must be removed to access the underside of the vehicle for an oil change. Valvoline removed and reinstalled it.
Approximately four months later, on October 3, I discovered the shield hanging underneath my vehicle. Fortunately, I noticed it before driving away and was able to remove it before it became a road hazard.
This was the second time this happened following a Valvoline oil change.
The first time, at Valvoline's 9050 Spencer location, the shield came loose while I was driving on the highway and was seriously damaged. It also damaged other components underneath my vehicle. Valvoline accepted responsibility, paid a Ford dealership to replace the damaged parts, and supplied a replacement splash shield.
It was that replacement shield that came loose this time.
When I removed it on October 3, only two screws remained attached, both near the front left corner. Neither was tight; I removed both by hand, without a screwdriver. The panel's eleven mounting holes remain intact and undamaged. The only damage to the panel is scraping from contact with the pavement.
I returned the panel and screws to the Fairmont store on October 4. The manager told me he had contacted his supervisor, who said Valvoline would do nothing because approximately four months had passed since the oil change.
What is troubling is that apparently no investigation went into that decision. No one asked how many miles I had driven, checked my odometer, or asked where or how I had driven the vehicle. I could have driven 10 miles or 10,000 miles. Valvoline never bothered to find out.
Nor did anyone examine the vehicle. The Fairmont store has a service bay that allows technicians to access the underside of a vehicle, but no one asked me to bring the Fusion into the bay. My Fusion rides quite low, and I could not reasonably inspect the attachment points myself without jacking up the car and crawling underneath it. When I returned, the store was not busy and the service bays were empty.
I had brought the panel with me, and its mounting holes were intact. The apparent problem was simply determining what fasteners were required and properly securing the panel.
There is also a larger safety issue. I brought my car to Valvoline for an oil change and trusted its technicians to properly reinstall everything they removed. A loose splash shield is an inconvenience and a potential road hazard. A failure to properly secure a component involved in an oil change could be much more serious. A loose oil drain plug or improperly secured oil filter could result in loss of engine oil and catastrophic engine damage.
Fortunately, this time I discovered the loose splash shield before it caused additional damage. I was not so fortunate the first time.
I am a senior citizen. I paid Valvoline for a professional service, and I should not have to jack up my vehicle and crawl underneath it to determine whether the components removed by the technician have actually been secured.
I am not asking Valvoline to replace an old, worn-out panel. This was a replacement panel supplied by Valvoline, and it appears to remain usable. I have the original service receipt, the panel, the two screws that remained attached, and photographs documenting its condition and mounting holes.
Ford parts information indicates that the splash shield is secured by eleven screws. When I discovered the panel, only two remained attached, neither properly tightened. The other nine were no longer securing the panel. In the first incident, the panel similarly came loose after Valvoline had reinstalled it.
Valvoline did not determine what happened. It simply decided that enough time had passed that it did not need to find out and denied all responsibility.

Damage Caused by Valvoline (IT DIDNT COME IN THIS WAY BUT THATS THE WAY ITS LEAVING)!!!
Today Saturday 9-26-26 at approximately 8:30am I went to Valvoline located at 4830 Kirkwood HWY Wilmington De 19808 302-487-0285 for an Oil Change & tire rotation. I have gone to this location for the last several years with multi vehicles my wife's 2019 MDX & my previous vehicle a 2014 Mercedes Benz. I entered the location with no issues with my 2023 Honda Accord. While doing my oil change my front undercarriage wind tray had to be removed to access the oil filter. While waiting in the car the female tech (name unknown) was nice and first stated "There is damage to your wind tray". I stated I don't know how I have hit or ran over anything. The female tech continued with her duties while other make techs completed oil and oil filter change along with tire rotation. Once this was done there were still having problems with the undercarriage wind tray. I stated I had no issues with the wind tray when I arrived but now, I'm being told bolts will not line up due to the tray damage. Eventually the techs say everything is good; I pay for the service and leave. A mile away the undercarriage falls down from under my car scrapping the ground. I pull over twice to push it back up before arriving back at the 4830 Kirkwood HWY Wilmington De 19808 302-487-0285 location. I explain what just happened and drive my 2023 Honda Accord back into the same bay. Now I'm being told it's not the tray but some plastic piece that's damage on one side, but both sides were hanging down when I had to push the wind tray back up and neither side was secured. A tech wearing an eye patch went under the car and did secure my wind tray with one bolt and a zip tie. MY CAR DID NOT ARRIVE THIS WAY AND THE LAST PEOPLE WHO SERVICED MY VEHICLE WAS THIS VALVOLINE LOCATION. I filed a complaint on 9-26-26 and received all call from Manager Guillermo and Service Rep on 9-26-26 at Approx. 11:00am. Claim denied fixing my car alleged camera footage. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VECHILE THEY DONT NOT HONOR DAMAGE THEY CAUSE!!
