Hi Alexandra, We're sorry to hear about any issues you've been having with frequent YouTube advertisements for our service. The YouTube support team may be able to help you with limiting certain types of ads, or ads from specific companies, but this is not something we are able to directly control I'm afraid.

Dagmara has been a patient listener. I’m not an easy patient as I have been very resistant to change and have ADHD. Having someone to talk to weekly has given me the stability I’ve needed to slowly move forward. BetterHelp has been a lifesaver, helping me to get regular help at an affordable price. I greatly appreciate it! ❤️

Feels like the ole bait and switch when they give estimates that are 4x lower than what you actually have to pay with insurance. Then they take 4 months to bill you and all of a sudden you are hit with 4 months of way over estimate therapy bills. I was quoted $31/month with insurance and then 4 months later my HSA card just started filling up with charges 4x over the estimate from claims processed months earlier. Unclear billing and, to top it all off, customer service takes days to respond.

Hi Cassandra, We're sorry for this experience. We do our absolute best to provide the closest "patient responsibility" estimates we can, but the final responsibility is ultimately decided by your insurance company, based on several factors (like meeting deductibles). We also make every effort to urge therapists to submit clinical documentation in a timely manner to help prevent bulk charges, and ensure timely Customer Support response times! We understand your frustration based on the experience you've described above and have provided your feedback directly to our Product and Clinical teams as we look to continue improving our insurance offering! All the best, BetterHelp Team
Chris
BetterHelp has an extensive team of therapists that are available on your schedule and they do an excellent job of matching you with a therapist that can help you and understands the issues you are facing.

Good afternoon. I used betterhelp about a year ago. The most memorable moment, was when I was exhausted from work and I cancelled on my therapist last minute. The next time I talked to him, he paused for a moment and got quiet and said, “You know this is the only way I get paid, right? When you cancel I dont get paid for the appointment” with a super creepy look on his face. A therapist with an RN degree is saying this to his exhausted first responder worker patient. I found another better therapist but I just had to get this off my chest.

It was a very frustrating experience, they don't allow for flexible scheduling and then you lose your sessions, and you can't purchase sessions one at a time, you have to buy them in packs. Not transparent in this at the time of signing up either. I feel rather cheated.

Hi Nathan, We apologize for the frustration. While we try to make the membership billing process very clear upon signing up for the service, it sounds like the ongoing billing may have not have been apparent in this case. Our Member Success team should be able to help provide further clarity for you, and also work to restructure your billing cycle a bit to help get things back on track! I've requested the email address linked to your BetterHelp account so that we can follow up with you directly to get this sorted out. We hope to talk soon, BetterHelp Team

Awful company. The therapists on that site are generally pretty bad. But I had one that really took the cake. I was experiencing passive suicidal ideation. I did not want to act on the feelings, which is why I was seeking out therapy. Just to repeat, they were passive. And so I try to get connected with a therapist and I send her a message about what was going on in my life, and in detail what I was there for and what I needed from therapy. She literally in the first sentence indicates she didn't read my message by saying "So why are you in therapy?". Not only that, but she just straight up told me, and I quote verbatim, that I'm a liability because I had suicidal thoughts. My therapist literally told me I'm a liability. This site is trash. They're also incredibly expensive. Their ads are shady and predatory. It's like the McDonald's of therapy.
