Failure to adhere to APA guidelines in prescribing medication

The website and appointment scheduling were as expected. I think many people may wonder if they are receiving the highest level of care from the medical providers that practice on websites like this. In some case they certainly might be, but I question the care I received. To that point, I requested a refill of an existing prescription. Without going into every personal detail, they declined to refill it. To be abundantly clear, this prescription is nothing whatsoever like a controlled substance. There is zero concern for abuse, so we're not talking about being in that category of issues. My issue is that they provided a basis for declining it and the EXACT basis they gave is addressed in the APA guidelines as something that should NOT be done by doctors. So in other words, the guidelines literally tell doctors "this is not the way too appropriately prescribe this medication, do not require additional levels of care as a pre-condition to prescribing this medication" and yet that's what CallonDoc did. Also, they're requirement flew in the face of the hundreds of studies involving the medication that lead to the relevant guidelines (specifically finding that the additional levels of care CallonDoc said were required were not necessary for the medication to be effective). Apparently, the provider on call was completely unaware of any of this. I brought it to their attention in the messaging communications in the customer portal, professionally and diligently pointing to the guidelines that contradicted their standard of care. Instead of engaging in the conversation or perhaps referring me to an in-house provider more familiar with this particular medication, they failed to respond at all, but sent a refund of my consultation fee. I found another doctor shortly thereafter who filled my refill in accordance with the guidelines and without any suggestion that it should have been done any other way. I asked my physician if failure to adhere to the APA guidelines constitutes malpractice. Their opinion was "yes, it might, particularly if it results in harm to the patient" which in my case was a potential risk. Take it for what it's worth, but be aware. These are only my opinions based on my singular experience with CallonDoc.
