This is the worst training software I have ever seen. Colleges need to stop using this junk and go with something that is more appropriate. this is failing people because their own instructions are inaccurate.

I had to use Codio for a class and its quite honestly one of the worst learning platforms I have ever used. I say this as a student and as someone who works in education. The auto-grader is so strict that students are punished for even minor mistakes like not indenting code correctly. The site often only give one chance to answer a question before just giving the answer, it doesn't try to guide to user to the answer and let them figure it out. The site also maintains some really weird aspect ratios when doing certain assignments, like the site was designed to be viewed on mobile and not a 16 by 9 screen wasting 70% of the viewing space. the information on the site is good(this good info is the only reason its not one star), although for some reason it does not work well with screen readers as the screen readers default to the coding area and not the information panel. This sort of automated teaching killed my love for coding as it felt like there was so little opportunity to experiment and learn by failing. The only sort of educators who use this sort of site are the lazy ones. If your a cheap and lazy teacher, codio is for you, your students will hate your for it.

Codio is terrible to use from a student perspective in my experience. instead of testing code output, encouraging students to write their own code it just uses tricky syntax questions and moveable code block puzzles to try and catch students out. the classic oh you missed a curly brace so your wrong no chance for a retry. I can code quite well and coding is trial and error. codio just makes you feel bad because you get one chance to answer and then its locked in and unchangeable. Its not a learning tool, its a feel bad tool. code wars is a better tool encouraging a student to actually write code and test its compiles outcome instead of catching mini syntax errors doing multiple choice.
