EssayGrader (EssayGrader.ai)Reviews of essaygrader.ai

The company is very responsive. While this is a new product, it is thoughtfully put together and its integration with Canvas is excellent. My students appreciate the detailed feedback, especially as an input to revising their papers.

Essay Grader was exactly what I was looking for. I way to give fast feedback to students as emerging writers. This does not replace the teacher, but is a helper in the educational experience. I love the integration with google classroom and the ability to customize the feedback directly into the students document.

As a freelance educator, I work closely with students across grade levels and writing abilities. I always try to give thoughtful, individualized feedback to the students, and keeping that level of attention consistent across multiple essays and deadlines can be difficult. That’s where EssayGrader.ai steps in. I started using it when I needed a tool that respected the way I already teach, and made things easier, smoother. What sets EssayGrader apart from other tools is that it doesn’t just grade - it gives you a lot of control over your work. I built custom rubrics, can align feedback to specific standards, and save rubric templates for different kinds of assignment types. That means I do not have to re-update my process and workflow every time a student submits a persuasive or analytical essay. One feature I haven't seen anywhere else is the ability to switch between teacher voice and student-friendly tone in the feedback. That flexibility helps me decide how I want to communicate- whether I’m sending comments directly to a student or summarizing my notes for a parent or administrator. It also integrates cleanly with Google Docs, which saves me from copying and pasting between platforms. EssayGrader cuts the mechanical, repetitive parts down to minutes. It gives you space to breathe, plan, and teach with intention. It’s not flashy, but it’s smart. And it works in a way that feels built by teachers, for teachers.

I really appreciate how the company provides immediate feedback and support—even on a Sunday! It’s clear that you value your customers and are committed to improving the product by listening to those of us using it daily. I’m excited to see what upgrades are coming in August. So far, I’m definitely enjoying how EssayGrader is saving me time and making the scoring process easier and more efficient.

I was hesitant to try something new, but it was so easy to get up and running and I appreciate the feedback it provides. I really like the side-by-side panel view, where you can see student work and feedback sections side by side.

As an English teacher with over a decade of experience, I’ve tried a number of tools to help streamline grading and give more actionable feedback to students. EssayGrader has genuinely impressed me. The interface is clean and intuitive, which made it easy to get started. More importantly, the feedback it generates is actually useful...not just generic grammar corrections, but real insights into structure, clarity, and argument strength. Several of my students mentioned they understood their mistakes more clearly after using it. What I appreciate most is the speed. I can run through multiple essays quickly, and the tool catches many issues I’d typically point out myself. It’s not a replacement for teacher feedback, but it’s a strong support when time is tight. Highly recommend for any educator who wants to save time and help students improve their writing.

I appreciate the depth of feedback provided on each essay. Not only are mistakes flagged, but so are things that are done particularly well. Suggestions for improvement are spot-on. I also like the fact that I can send feedback reports to the students with or without the score. This allows me some wiggle-room in grades, as I deem acceptable. The only issue I have run into is the fact that in-text citations are sometimes flagged as being done incorrectly when they are, indeed, correct. This is despite my specifying in the rubric that they should be formatted accord MLA guidelines. Overall, this has been a terrific timesaver. I still read my students’ work and know where and how they are progressing, but the feedback they receive is more than what is humanly possible.

A coworker told me about the site and convinced me to try it. I am impressed! Never before has essay grading been so easy. I am also excited about the detailed feedback for student review. Thank you for this experience.
