Despite the highest of expectations... they were surpassed!
My boyfriend and I were in the Galapagos late January and decided to impulsively jump on a Liveaboard. We are both dive professionals (me for 11 years and him for 2) and take service very seriously, on top of that we had the highest of expectations for the diving, as Galapagos was always on top of my list. All our expectations were not only met but far surpassed. From the brand new boat (Tiburon Explorer) to the fantastic meals and hammerhead filled dives. It was all just perfect. The entire staff works together in a way that makes everything flow and at the same time seem effortless (it takes great staff to achieve this, and experience with service to appreciate it). When it's time to get ready for dives, almost all the staff heads to the dive area. They help you with wetsuits, soaps for masks, getting into gear and, just as you're about to leave, German comes with drinking water (not a full glass, just enough to wet your mouth before the dive). As you leave the boat, staff assuring you have a hand to hold onto downstairs, someone to hold camera, etc. When you get back, again a helping hand, staff undoing wetsuits and hauling your gear back to you. By the time you are back to your station, a nice warm towel is waiting for you. Organized and efficient. The divemasters show incredible confidence and always seem at ease, no matter how strong the currents are. Being a dive guide myself, I know I'd be nervous caring for people under so much current, but Gabi, Jorge and William made the group feel like it was a breeze, and also instructed us on what to do if we got lost under those conditions. The dives were out of this world. Even before we got to Darwin and Wolf we were already diving with mobulas, white tips, nudibranchs and hammerheads, but once we got to Wolf and descended on hundreds of hammerheads we realized why one must get to Darwin and Wolf to see the full magic of Galapagos. We saw more hammerheads then my brain could process, massive Galapagos sharks and black tips, over 6 different species of moray eels, scorpionfish, a MolaMola, octopusses, seahorse, frogfish, bullhead sharks and many sea lions. A dream come true. The meals were absolutely fantastic, fresh, varied, full of vegetables (something rare in Ecuador) and so well prepared. German as a server/mind reader was a school on what service excellence means. Always there, always a step ahead. The boat is brand new (sept 2020) and designed with divers in mind, so the diver area flows and together with the staff, it makes for a nice effortless sequence to get on the water to do what we get on the boat for: great diving! We had the time of our lives and would be back with these guys on another liveaboard on a heartbeat!
