This has been a nightmare this company wants money. I booked an appointment and then received and email that said they could not provide what I was looking for. I have attempted to cancel but they want to charge me $135. No one will listen that they do not provide the service I thought they did. They are predatory beware

I was lucky enough to have an incredible therapist (intern) from December 2022-May 2023. She helped me so much. She cared, she listened, she gave advice, and showed up for me consistently. In May when she left, she recommended me to a new clinician. The first session with this clinician was a phone call canceling our appt because she forgot it was Mother’s Day weekend and was driving home. Fast forward till now, we had like one or two sessions total (and they were biweekly). It was always something-I didn’t email a time or date, when indeed I had. Then she’d call, apologize, reschedule, just to bail on me again. It was so upsetting and caused anguish. NOT how therapy is supposed to be. I expressed I wanted a new therapist because it was working out. There were emails sent and people CC’d about new time date etc. today, I get the most abrupt email from the NEWEST woman (my third therapist now-eye roll) and I lost it. She claimed I didn’t show up to the appt, asked me if I knew the no show policy, and how I wished to proceed. There was no appt, nobody reads their emails apparently! My response was that I don’t wish to proceed and I hope they treat other patients better. Can’t make it up. Gotta love when the therapists are rude, condescending, and gaslighters.

Good Therapists, Bad Company
Like others, I want to echo that the company (ThriveWorks) is almost in direct conflict with their stated goals and the goals of the therapists. The company has no support to speak of and insane policies (why would you pay $135 to cancel a $100 service?!).
They try to hide it in medical billing terms, but the parent company just wants your money and doesn't care about your actual treatment. I encourage everyone to ask their therapist if they use a secondary virtual counseling service as ThriveWorks itself is anathema to the relationship.

Don’t waste your time
Don’t waste your time . They are only about money . It’s impossible to speak to a supervisor or manager to resolve any issues . Customer service is subpar . Read the reviews from other people that echo my frustrations. Seems this may be a scam .

Not worth it
The counselor I worked with was great! However, their billing department is terrible. So many errors, mistakes, and just trouble with them overall. Not worth it. I canceled 7 months ago, still filing claims with my bank to dispute charges...

I am disabled and not able to work…
I am disabled and not able to work right now. I have been very chronically ill and living with chronic pain. I had to miss my appointment last week because I was able to get into a specialist I have been waiting to get into sooner and it happened to fall on the day and time of my Thriveworks appointment. I notified them over 24 hours in advance. I am possibly terminally ill. I don't really have any money coming in right now. They refused to either wave the $135 fee considering the circumstances or even work out a payment plan. They drafted the $135 out of my account without my consent leaving my bank account in the negative. I have absolutely no money now. No way of putting gas in my car so I won't be able to make it to other appointments I have until I have another payment come in. I can't even pay my co-pays now. I dont even have money for food. A company that has no compassion for their clients is definitely not a company I want to do business with. I did some research online and there is a lot of information about Thriveworks being a scam and having lawsuits filed against them. DO NOT UTILIZE THEIR SERVICES.

Lacks Communication and Gaslights Clients
My biggest issue was the lack of communication when it comes to billing. I had asked them numerous times what the cost would be per session, and would receive different answers. I got to a point where I cancelled my session, and called to cancel my account, which I was told was done. Apparently, I didn't cancel properly, even though I had messaged the therapist and called the company. I was still charged for a late fee and session that I didn't even have. I have contacted BBB and gave a review, the company then reached out and said this is not how we run our practice, but needless to say I am still receiving emails that I owe them money. I absolutely refuse to pay, since I did everything I was supposed to in insuring my account was cancelled. I even checked and couldn't log into my account because it was cancelled. I am blessed to be receiving better care elsewhere, but 100% don't recommend Thrive Works for therapy. They in fact, do not work, and cause more stress then good. They are over priced, lack communication throughout their departments, and gaslight their clients.

Do NOT recommend
Met with Janine Hitchens Parker. She did not turn her camera on for the first 10+ minutes of the session. Her response to my answers was problematic and unprofessional. Not only did she NOT give me the space to fully and comfortably respond to her questions, the way in which she spoke to me was triggering and evoked serious anxiety. I would not recommend her to anyone, specifically those who may have previously struggled with suicidality.
