AVOID FUNDRISE AT ALL COST! They use your money to enrich themselves then (even before this virus was a crisis) when you try to redeem your money they say, sorry, we feel there’s a crisis coming so we suspended your request to get YOUR money back. Yes, they hold YOUR money hostage!
If you want to throw your money away just go buy lotto tickets, it’s a safer bet.

Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. DO NOT, DO NOT invest through this CRE investment vehicle. Your returns will not live up to expectations and now they are denying ones ability to redeem shares. It’s an underperforming asset class with limited liquidity. I highly suggest you look elsewhere.

Holding my money hostage...
Holding my money hostage...
This is the email I received after jumping through hoops and ladders just to request a withdrawal/redemption:
"We intend to consider your redemption request in July, however, there is no guarantee that we will choose to fulfill it.
Due to the uncertainty in today's markets, we may choose to continue suspending redemption requests until we conclude the risk from the crisis has receded and the market has returned to more normal conditions.
That said, we will be sure to be communicative and transparent with our decision."

STAY AWAY FROM FUNDRISE
STAY AWAY FROM FUNDRISE! After three years of investing with Fundrise, my returns have lagged other real estate investment options that are easier to access and manage. On Jan 13, 2020 I officially requested to liquidate my funds from my Fundrise account so I can put it towards better investments. Almost 3 months later now (Apr 2, 2020) they have sent me a message saying that they aren’t allowing any liquidations until further notice. So basically they’re holding my money against my wishes, and have provided no direction to me at all as to when I can be “allowed” to get my money out. When I do eventually get my money out (if I ever do) I will definitely never invest here again. There are far better investment options available that don’t steal your money and lock it away from you indefinitely.

I requested in 2 month ago withdraw and…
I requested in 2 month ago withdraw and close my account, Fundrise.com told me NO, because we are in middle of the corona virus crisis.

Worst investment I’ve ever done.
Put in $1k and after several months it’s made less than 2%. That’s not good at all, I rather have my month in a savings account. On top of that, you can withdraw when you want so who knows when this company or IF this company would give you your money back.
I highly suggest you stay away and invest in something else, maybe some index funds.

Cannot withdraw my $
Filed to try to get my investment $ back 6 weeks ago...on the day i was supposed to be finally able to withdraw my $ I get this message....we are a family of 4 struggling to pay bills in this uncertain time and Fundrise will not allow me to withdraw my $...They will cite some fine print in their agreement but it is really hurting our family and I would not recommend people locking up their money...on top of that they cannot give me a time that I can withdraw my $....Here is the response I got from them after waiting 6 weeks:
Given the unprecedented level of disruption and ongoing uncertainty caused by the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Fundrise Advisors, in our capacity as Manager of the eREITs and eFunds, has determined that it is necessary at this time to suspend the processing and fulfillment of redemption requests.
While under normal market conditions, we seek to provide investors with the ability to redeem their investments on a regular basis, during times of financial crisis or extreme uncertainty, it is absolutely critical that we suspend redemptions in order to protect the interests of all our investors.
As Manager, we have an obligation to make decisions based upon what is best for the entire Fundrise investor community and must always put the priorities of the whole above any one individual.
Fundamentally, Fundrise investors own real property, which is simply not liquid. In conditions such as those we face today, fulfilling redemption requests would require us to either substantially deplete vital cash reserves, or, even worse, potentially sell assets into a down market, likely at a price far below actual value. We believe that either of these actions would materially increase the risk of unnecessary loss or otherwise avoidable problems for the vast majority of our investors who have not requested to redeem and intend to stay invested for the long term.
We recognize that the current coronavirus pandemic is evolving every day and therefore the situation may change rapidly. Accordingly, once we conclude the risk from the crisis has receded and the market has returned to more normal conditions, we expect to resume processing redemptions. However, at this time, ensuring that the portfolios are strongly positioned to weather even the most severe downturn is the prudent decision.
We are aware of the fact that this may be a difficult time for some of our investors and want to reiterate that this was not a decision we have taken lightly. As always, we are available to answer any questions at (their email was here)

Fundrise constantly updates all of its investors.
Fundrise constantly updates all investors on new and completed projects which I find very helpful. Their website is excellent and your overview is updated all the time so you know exactly what your earnings are.
Fundrise makes it clear that you need to have a long term horizon so do not invest with them if you think you will need your money in the next few years.
Only negative is the trust company they use to fund IRAs. Fees are high and making deposits into your account so you can invest in Fundrise is a slow process.
If your account is a non-IRA account, you will not have to deal with the trust company. You will be making your deposits directly to Fundrise and you can make the deposits online at anytime with very low contribution amounts.
Fundrise is a great way to invest in REITS for both the small or large investor as long as you have a long term outlook.
