The NovelryReviews of thenovelry.com

I’ve done many writing courses, many of which rely heavily on the workshopping method. The Complete Novel Course offers far more. It combines structured ‘how-to’, teaching, including textual analysis of works by great writers, coaching and one-to-one tutor contact including individualised feedback on problems, writing etc, all in one package and all available as you write your novel.

I’ve done several writing courses; including Faber and Curtis Brown, but the Novelry is altogether unique. It is more than going through the do’s and don’ts of writing according to a blueprint; how to cut adjectives and keep pace, how to write character. Writing something true to oneself, that resonates with readers, is what makes a classic, a success. This is done by delving into ones own treasure of hidden history. Peeling back the layers. Encouraged to read widely, not just contemporary novels, but myth and legends, showed how they are the root of all novels. Add a bit of fairy dust and my writing has picked up several gears, it flows, and I have found my own style of writing.

I had a dream to write and The Novelry took me by my inexperienced hand and lead me with warmth, humour, generosity, a firm grip, a down-to-earth and realistic programme and here I am. My very own novel. I have done a few writing courses and none of them come close to the holistic/wraparound concept of The Novelry. There is a sense of joy and warmth, generosity and realism to everyone associated with The Novelry and what it takes to write. It comes across in the lessons, the classes and the community Louise and crew have created. It is the best thing I could have done to help me move forward in my dream to write.

Apart from teaching storytelling, editing and how to grow an idea into a published piece of work, The Novelry is a warm, supportive place for people at all stages of writing. Membership of The Novelry has exceeded my expectations and enriched my life.

Engaging, confidence building, supportive and not to be missed. If you are serious about writing a novel, you need this course. If you are struggling with your novel you need this course. Amazing support from all concerned, from Louise's vlogs to tutor authors and all the other lovely people taking this course sharing their feeling/thoughts as they go further and further through the course. I now feel I can finish my novel to a high standard.

The Novelry is a brilliant, inspiring and life-changing place to be. Having been wrestling with my story idea and several misfiring starts to it since 2016 by myself, I finally joined the Novelry late last year (2020). This July (2021) I finally completed the first draft - and as a story it has utterly transformed, becoming much stronger and more the story I want to tell. The biggest thing I've learned is that anyone can be good at writing but learning how to tell a compelling story, that's where the art truly comes in. The Novelry offers engaging, practical and supportive advice in the course content and all the other sessions run around the courses themselves. And in the fellow writers and the tutors you get THE BEST cheerleaders and supporters you could ever wish for. Do it. It'll be the best decision you make for your novel!

As I work through The Book In a Year program, The Novelry is the guidance, inspiration, and encouragement that I always wished that I'd received when I started to write many moons ago. I wish I'd learnt what you have taught me when I did my creative writing degree twenty years ago. Hands down the best decision I ever made in pursuing my writing dreams. Thank you!

It took me six years to write my first novel, but with the Novelry, I wrote a complete draft in one hundred days! It’s not only the hugely addictive course content that sets it apart but the instant sense of belonging – the tribe. The Novelry is the type of community you didn’t even know you craved. You’ll find fellow writers, author tutors, editorial experts and Louise Dean, the Mother Hen of the whole writer’s den. Every single player is genuine, masterful and passionate about writing. The Novelry is more than a course, it’s a lifestyle, and it’s the best investment I’ve ever made.
