Hi Chenelle, thank you for your feedback. For eligible customers, Lifeline phones are provided for free as a courtesy from Gen Mobile. These phones are designed for essential use (calls, texts, and light browsing). If you need a phone that better fits your needs, we offer low-cost upgrade options. As an alternative, you can also bring your own device (BYOD). Call 611 for more info on your upgrade options.

DEL
I'm unable to use the card in the phone, so therefore I'm not actually using your service.
Reply from Gen MobileApr 21, 2026
Hi Del, we’re sorry your SIM isn’t working! Sometimes a quick restart can reconnect your SIM. If that doesn't work, removing the SIM, gently wiping it, and reinserting it can help if dust or misalignment is causing the issue. If you’re still having trouble after trying these steps, please reach out to our Customer Care team at 833-528-1380 or chat with us at genmobile.com.

Provide a 5G phone for free, you cannot do anything with the 4G phone.

Kevin, If you received a free device as a courtesy to use with your free Lifeline service, the device type could vary. The devices are generally Android smartphones that can be used for calling, texting, web browsing and using apps. While these devices work great for essential services, if you are looking for a device with more advanced features, we offer upgrades, or you can bring a compatible device of your own that you purchased or already own.
