★☆☆☆☆ I Don't Authorize Blank Checks
★☆☆☆☆ I will never use Quest Diagnostics again. This isn't about $27.93. It's about trust. Months after my blood work, Quest determined that I owed an additional balance because of an insurance adjustment. If they believed I owed more money, they should have sent me an itemized bill explaining the charge and asking me to pay it. Instead, they simply charged the card they had on file without contacting me or obtaining my authorization. I believe Quest's billing practice is equivalent to taking money from a customer without permission. Whether Quest believes its policies or agreements allow this is beside the point for me. If a company wants my money, it should ask for it, explain why it is owed, and allow me to review the bill before charging my account. I don't object to paying legitimate bills. I object to having money taken first and being told about it afterward. Those are fundamentally different things. Because of this experience, Quest has permanently lost my business. I now use another laboratory and will not return. If you value maintaining control over when and how your money is spent, I encourage you to ask Quest exactly what authority they believe they have to charge payment methods months after your visit.
